Avoid buying lots of little bits of decor, especially early on, its often waste of money. Its better to hire or buy larger elements of your decor first after establishing your style, theme & budget

Compare prices - ask the venue for a price with and without the decor and shop around.
Colour: when looking at a venue, don’t think you can only have a colour that matches the decor. When the room is dressed you may not notice the carpets, curtains or walls
