One lucky UKbride member’s wedding dreams came true when we rang her on Valentine’s Day to tell her she had won our incredible £25,000 wedding competition!

Excitement was in the air at the UKbride headquarters on Valentine’s day as the wait was nearly over, we would finally be announcing the winner of our once-in-a-lifetime £25,000 dream wedding prize! With anticipation building, the UKbride Marketing Manager hit dial and after just a few rings our lucky winner Jade Danks tentatively answered “Hello?”. After some initial curiosity over what the call could be regarding, this quickly turned to pure elation as we told her the amazing news that she had won a dream £25,000 wedding!

“It’s like the competitions you see on TV, you never think you’re going to win. We can’t believe it. Thank you so much UKbride!”

Jade and her fiancé Marcus Smith live in Birmingham with their two young children, four-year-old Scarlett and 6-month-old Albie. But Jade will forgive me for saying that she didn’t foresee this life with Marcus when they first met. Rewind 11 years, Jade and Marcus both attended their local College to study Performing Arts, where instead of the loved-up vibe that the happy couple now emanate, Jade actually couldn’t stand Marcus (her words, not ours!).

“I absolutely could not stand him. There was something about him I just didn’t like, we didn’t see eye to eye.”

But things took a more romantic turn a year after the pair first met, when fate happened to intervene on a night out.

“As I was leaving the club with my friends, Marcus came out of the one opposite us, we got talking and joking around and something just switched. We’ve been inseparable ever since.”

Fast forward a few years and Marcus managed to seal the deal by pulling off the perfect proposal at Disneyland Paris on Jade’s 25^th birthday.

“I was carrying the ring around with me all day and didn’t know about it! He proposed to me at the end of the day under the fireworks. He even waited until the Céline Dion song ‘How does a moment last forever’ for the recent Beauty and the Beast film was playing as we have a bit of an inside joke that we’re Beauty and the Beast as Marcus has so much facial hair!”

That was 5 years ago now and Jade is still patiently waiting another two years before she can call Marcus her husband and, importantly for her, share her last name with her two children.

Our patient bride-to-be needn’t wait so long anymore as she excitedly told us she is now considering bringing the wedding forward thanks to the incredible £25,000 wedding prize as they no longer need to worry about relentlessly saving towards their big day.
