The Real Wedding of Nina & Dave

Nina & Dave's Wedding Story

I think I must say it about pretty much every wedding I do but Nina & Dave's intimate wedding at the AMAZING Clifton Observatory in Bristol was one of my all time favourite days to capture! There is absolutely no better feeling than when you meet a couple and you just click, not just they like you're work or even that you all get on. But the important parts about their day was just so right! They didn't sweat the small stuff, kept it to the people they really wanted to see and booked the stuff they wanted! Bollocks to the rest!

Like I say, just perfect!

After a few run up attempts to planning a wedding (bloody covid and something about a boat regatta I think?) Nina booked the observatory out of the blue after hearing it had a prime Saturday spot become available. Dave found out a few hours later. This gave them a little over 8 months to plan their perfect wedding, totes no problem right?

The morning of the wedding I found a little spot to leave my car and took a tootle up to the Observatory first to check it out and to meet the guys who were finishing their set up. Well, I can definitely say that even on a grey early autumn morning the venue is stunning! Just right for an intimate wedding, cosy on the inside with incredible rooftop views over the city and the bridge. After snapping their set up (can we just take a sec to swoon over those florals & neon sign) I hot footed it over to where Nina was getting ready with her mum. The vibe was suuuuuper relaxed, some might suggest too relaxed and we raced through the last 5 minutes before the taxi arrived!

The ceremony again was just right for them, individual, qwirky and personalised by their wonderful celebrant.

SIDEBAR -

I'd always recommend a celebrant led ceremony, its more personal for you, more interesting for your guests and much more leeway with photos. Look how fun these ones looks!

Plenty of giggles and a few tears were had before we arrived at the hand fasting part of the ceremony (love these) and in this case, each of the colourful ribbons used represented an important element of the couples relationship. How awesome is that?! An amazing way to literally tie the knot!

Some fantastic confetti later and we bashed out the groups in no time at all, giving more time for bevs, cuddles and laughs! Mmmmmm! The grey morning clouds were finally burning off to reveal the blue skies of my dreams, and armed with the all their photo experience of their engagement session the month before, myself, Nina & Dave ventured off for some couples photos before dinner.

During dinner I enjoyed the afternoon sun on the roof whilst eating all the delicious veggie food and the goodie bag i'd been gifted (n'aww thanks guys!) before heading back down to capture the speeches/thankyous by the bride and groom.

The afternoon was blissful and relaxed with more rooftop sunshine and cocktails with the sounds of a very jazzy brass band filling the air as entertainment. I bloody love a brass band! SO much fun!

As the sun began to set we headed back downstairs ready to cut that cake and throw some shapes. Even their first dance song was just so suited to them and let me tell you, their guests knew how to party!

All in all, it was a winner. Thanks so much for including me in your wedding day guys. I will now and forever be a supporter of #TEAMWILMOTTHAYES!
