The Real Wedding of Alice & Dan

Alice & Dan's Wedding Story

May 2022 was one of my favourite months in this job EVER! Everything went just so perfect - the weather and the couples of my dreams! One of said couples were the gorgeous Alice & Dan who got hitched in colourful style in the very centre of Cardiff.

When the guys got in touch they told me that i'd been recommended by another one of my couples for my relaxed fun style. They were all about fuss free photography and all about having a chilled (but excellent) time. They wanted to be totally comfortable on their day, from their outfits to their venue - a favourite spot they regularly frequent.

I COMPLETELY agree! Whats the point in having anything you're not allll about on one of your most special days, right?!

Whilst Dan got himself and their little boy ready at home, Alice decided what better place for her bridal prep than her parents house! Cosy and comfortable with lots of space and plenty of tea and coffee on tap. As they poured a nice big cup for me, the flowers were delivered and Alice showed me all her amazing outfit details. A gold sparkly wedding gown from Rachel Burges boutique, paired with colourful Kurt Geiger trainers - ideal for twirling, dancing and being care free! Their choice of flowers were a gorgeous wildflower mix of purples and oranges which tied in with the greens and oranges of Dans accessories. Check out that bow tie!

With time to spare Alice hoped into the surprise vintage Beetle that her parents had arranged for her and away we went to Cardiff city hall. For their first look outside with their friends and family. All their reactions were priceless, I live for these moments!

We headed inside ready for the ceremony and all a little relived for a bit of air conditioning - surprisingly hot for May. The guys have such a lovely, light-hearted relationship and I think their love and personalities really come out in these photographs. Surrounded by their close friends and family the pair made it official with their "I do's" and even their little one got involved. Short and sweet just how they wanted it, it was time to frolic! We were off on a jaunt through the streets and parks of Cardiff on a quest for afternoon tea. After some confetti (obviously!)

Cardiff city centre has some awesome spots for wedding photos all within close range so we got to enjoy some epic graffiti, urban beauty and the greenery of Bute park before heading to Pettigrew tearooms for some drinks and sarnies on the patio. And cake, did I mention the cake! Mmmmm!

Stomaches lined and family photos complete, it was time for me to head across town to their VERY colourful reception venue in time for their guests arriving. It was my first time at corporation yard and actually one of their first weddings ever! I'm very happy and excited to say that i'll be back here again later this year and would always jump at the chance to party here!

As I mentioned, Corp Yard is one of Alice & Dan's favourite hang out spots, and I can see why. Amazing street food (vegan included), relaxed vibes, open yet private and the staff were so so lovely. With the help of some very talented friends, the guys had created a colourful urban wonderland that was a dream to photograph.

After lots of hugs, laughter and beers (felt like we were on holiday!) everyone was ready for a selection of tasty street food, tacos, hot wings, curries - so. Much. Food! I had seconds and sat blissfully full in the sunshine until we were ready for some speeches. Another bonus venue point is how easy it is to move around the table for snapping photos, so you're sure to get a good range! Just make sure your speeches are just as excellent as the rest of your day to guarantee those great reaction shots!

Everybody suitably filled and lubricated, the dance floor was calling. The guys have an excellent taste in music and celebrated their first dance with 'Whole of the moon' by the Waterboys. I'm always a fan when I don't have to listen to Ed Sheeren but when there are so many 80s and early 90s bangers in a playlist you will find me throwing some of my own shapes with the guests.
