The Real Wedding of Emily & Alex

Emily & Alex's Wedding Story

It's a beautifully warm early summer day in May, the bluest of skies and i'm tootling my way down the M4 to Cowbridge for Emily & Alex's wedding day. After meeting the guys on their engagement session at Southerndown beach, I knew it was set to be an excellent day full of fun and colour, and boy - THAT was an understatement!

I arrived at the home of Emily's parents for all her prep. Surrounded by her family and friends with such a lush atmosphere. The girls enjoyed cups of tea in the sunny garden whilst waiting their turn for hair and make up. Em herself had gone for such a perfect combo of kick-ass and delicate with her all white Doc Martens with ribbon laces, a relaxed floaty gown and a flower crown to die for! Her 'first looks' with her bridesmaids and her dad were some of the sweetest i've ever experienced, it's so amazing to be able to capture those emotions and to see how proud he was of his daughter (yeah, I was crying abit...).

Their awesome festival inspired wedding was held at Glyndwr Vineyard, complete with yurts, multicoloured flags, smoke flares and....LLAMAS!

A gorgeous ceremony was held in the barn, decorated with colourful pom poms and wildflowers whilst overlooking the vineyard. The guys couldn't take their eyes off each other, and who can blame them! Just look how amazing they look! (Insert heart-eye emoji!) Some sweet words and a lot of giggles later and the two were pronounced husband and wife and practically danced outside into the fields for a shower of confetti and some well deserved Prosecco.

Phworeee! Look at all those beautiful greens! Green luminance realness!

Glyndwr is a dream for photo backdrops, especially on a sunny day like this one. Rolling fields, whimsical willow trees and a pond out of a fairy tale. After some group photo fun by said pond it was time for lawn games, hugs and more bubbles around the yurts. The guys and their friends are keen frisbee enthusiasts and the badminton and foosball went down very well as well.

I thought the yurt was cool on the outside but just wait until you see inside! A colourful photographers dream - and i've wanted to do a yurt wedding in so long. Goal unlocked!

It was safe to say that everyone had worked up an appetite after all that playtime, so it was time to sit down for a delicious summer feast - courtesy of Bristol events catering. Would recommend!

The speeches followed and they were just as delicious, so much laughter, a couple of happy tears and so personal. My jaw literally ached from smiling so much, and you know that is the sign of a good day!

It was a busy day and with it being as hot as it was, I didn't want to the couple to get 'photo'd out' but just to let them soak up all the fun they had planned so we decided to do our couples photos after dinner. A brilliant decision as they were ready for some quiet time together and recharge ready for the evenings festivities. Can I also mention that the light was INCREDIBLE! Em was really hoping for some hazy golden hour photos and when I asked if they wanted to chat about a wet weather plan she was adamant that it was definitely NOT going to rain and they wouldn't even entertain the idea! This is the power of positive thinking!

Band set up, pizza ovens on - it was time to let loose and do what my couples do best, have a flippin' GOOD TIME!! And their friends and family were on hand to make sure Em and Alex were literally lifted into the centre of the fun at all times. I've got so many party shots, it's been very hard to select just a few to show you.

Although my feet were super tired I was sad to pack up at the end of the day. Weddings like this one are honestly such a joy to be a part of and make me feel so lucky for the job I have. Also the party wasn't showing any signs of slowing. Too right!

Emily and Alex, thank you so much for sharing your absolutely epic wedding day with me! I'm excited to catch up with a beer soon!

Heres to another spectacular summer of colour, cheers!
