Hi all just seen another post about horrible outfits for mums and thought I would ask you all about this query

I don't speak to my dad and my mum is walking me down the aisle she really has no clue what colour to wear as I have said no black (not a funeral) and no white (i'm the bride lol) she's happy with that but doesn't know what colour to wear without clashing with my colour theme, I am having navy blue, white and pale pink and she suggested wearing navy but I think she'll end up looking like a bridesmaid who will also be in navy but she pointed out that if I was having my dad walk me down the aisle he would wear the same suit as the groom etc which again is navy so what does a mother of the bride wear if she is walking me down the aisle??? We are both very confused I have got a foam rose corsage for her to wear too this is white and pale pink and I think the mil2b is heading towards something pink in colour herself so my mum won't wear the same colour as her please give me some suggestions she needs to start looking soon and we don't have a clue
    Thanks all x

Perhaps pale blue? It wouldn't be the same as anyone else, but would go nicely?

My Colours are dark Grey and Navy. Bridesmaids have got Navy dresses (cause I just couldn't get grey lol)
My mum isn't walking me down the aisle but I wanted my mum to tie in with my colour scheme in some way and she got a beautiful Navy with pale pink trim and spots dress with bolero jacket. She has went for shoes and accessories to match the pale pink and Im making her a corsage to give her mothers day and im going to try do that in greys.

If you arent keen on Navy for your mum how about maybe a silver? Plus from what Monster-in-law told me apparently the MIL doesnt buy until she has been told what the Mother of the Brides colours are.

I didn't know either but apparently monster has been waiting to be informed of my mums decision! Like thats top of my worry list lol

My mum is only 51 and very young looking but got her dress from Phase Eight and its lovely (and she isnt even normally into dresses)

At my 1st wedding my mum was only 37 and had a nightmare finding a suit for her age and occasion.

I don't think there are any rules really, so she could always have the main colour or the outfit as one of your theme colours and then something with it that blends well. Or a print incorporating a few of your colours would be good too - like a plain navy jacket over a print dress with navy and pink or something??
I didn't know that about mother of bride choosing before mother of groom either...do they have to match too??

i think the navy could work especially if shes having other colours to the dress sounds like a good idea and she as a point about the fob and groom wearing matching outfits lol i don't think she would look like a bridesmaid unless its a similar dress i know my sister in law were a navy blue dress and jacket with navy and cream fasiator thing when it was her daughters wedding and the bridesmaids had knee length navy dresses to but she did look stunning (said begrudgingly lol )

I think the navy would be lovely, I think it'd be clear she's mob as long as she's not actually wearing the same dress... infact it'll link her into the bridal party x

Just looking at a colour wheel and your colours are navy and pink,

Why not put your mum in lilac or mid plum?! then she would compliment both the grooms side and the bridesmaids but be individual to herself?!

I like the idea of her looking like she fits in with the bridesmaids. Personally, I think my mum and his mum will just be getting really nice outifts that they love. They're sitting up the top table so no mistaking who they are...

you want your mum to stand out as well - as it is a proud day for her too! What about gold or as someone said champagne. Will match it all and she won't look like a bridesmaid (if she looks that young maybe she wants to though!) :) I bet whatever she wears (as long as she is happy with it) it will be perfect - even just having navy accessories or something?

our theme is purple ivory and silver and my mum has bought and outfit that matches the theme perfectly and MIL2B has bought a beige, navy and red outfit

I think she just needs to have a look around and find something navy but i think maybe pale pink might be the way to go i saw an amazing dress in jacques vert that would fit amazingly well...........*goes to find a picture*

There's not one specific color the mother of the bride should wear. It's generally best to steer clear of white, ivory or champagne hues as to not take attention away from the bride.
