Seriously it won't take you that long, but you need to get your materials. I bought swarovski beads and diamante stones, to cut the cost down. I am just waiting for 50 big diamante rings to be delivered, which cost 50p each and I will wire them exactly the same as the brooches. I only paid a £1 for my brooches in the sale from primark (but that was ages ago). If you are using different colours it will be loads easier to get because you can buy job lots off ebay and ask friends and family. Because I was so picky with what I wanted no-one had anything. Also if you use a polystyrene ball and attach the brooches to it, you won't need anywhere near as many as I have used. I wanted mine to be just a massive bling and I didn't want you to be able to tell what each brooch actually was (this was partly to do with the fact that I had several of the same brooches).

how many brooches do you reckon i'll need?? I think I want to have a go at this too,
CommentAuthormunchkinpie
I think it depends on what size and shape you like plus like someone mentioned before if you are planning on using a foam ball or similar to attach them to or if you are just using wires and then bunching the wires.
Im going for just the wire approach and most of my brooches/buttons are a decent size -I reckon ill be using about 50-60 individual pieces x

Gracelet have you decided what style of bouquet you like? It might be easier to choose which one you like and then work out how many brooches etc you will need? If you use a polystyrene ball and the brooches are positioned in that, so you can see each brooch, you won't need as many. Mine are all overlapped and I've also used pearls, swarovski beads, odd earrings and am waiting for 50 diamante rings to turn up.

munchkinpie, i made mine with just wires and no foam ball, and i used 50-60. it measures 8 inches across and weighs 1.5kg. for thost of you that do use the foam balls, a neat trick is to spray it gold or silver first, then if you end up with a gap or two, it wont be too noticeable.

Hey Girls Just got a load of jewellery pieces from a well known department store - 3 letter one beginning with B! Not many brooches but loads of rings and pendants and earrings that can also be used - all for £1 or £2. Bargain when a lot of the items can be dismantled and used for 6/7 separate threads.
Sian if poss could I have link as most of the websites im finding either have minimum order of £50 or huge postage costs or trade accounts etc

I love brooch bouquets but they are sooo expensive I think I might give it a go inspired by all the ladies who seem to have done amazing jobs on here! I'm not usually very good a crafty things but if it all goes horribly wrong I will just sell the brooches on the bay!

Its beautiful leanne, how have you attached the brooches to the ball thingy?
just wondering if i could suggest somehow to make the holder, but dont know how you have done it. if you have posted the wires all the way through the ball, then they can be made into a handle.

Thanks ladies! The wires are approx 3 inches long so wont be all the way thru the middle. I was thinking about gluing a dowl thru the ball but im not sure if it will hold x

I love the look of these. And making it yourself is so special. I am a crafty one myself, I have made tiaras and i used to run a vintage handmade jewellery business, so i will be certainly making my own tiara, and possibly one of these beautiful brooch bouquets, although that does mean there will be no bouquet tossing for me! hehehe

Hahaha I wondered about throwing the bouquet but someone will end up with an eye out! So iv decided to have it as a table decoration for the reception instead and buy one that I can chuck lol x

i THINK mostly, when people use the ball, they use 20 inch wires, when folded in half around the brooch makes them 10 inches, and then posted through the ball to make the handle......i cant think of another way to make it hold TBH. because they are so heavy i dont think a dowell would work, unless its the size of a sweeping brush handle in circumfrence.

It is stunning well done you I am struggling to attach my brooches to the wire has anyone used a solder gun to do theirs?
Could you insert a cling film roll with glue on? Will that hold? Is dismanteling an option? There are oasis thingies in holders available on the bay of e?

Sian for the brooches I used 4 wires and just wired them where I could with white 26g wire so u couldnt see them x
CommentAuthorLisa Ramos
Sian on alot of my brooches I took off the brooch clasp and just thread the wire through any tiny gap on the brooch, you really won't see it as long as the wire is the same colour as the metal on the brooch.
Leeann if it is oasis or polystyrene I would thread threw as high up as you can florist wire, in a diagnoal direction. I would do this all the way around and then push the wire down in the direction your handle will be and twist each wire or twist several wires to create a handle, which then can be covered with a cardboard tube. If you take a photo of the underside, it will give us a better idea of what it looks like?
