Bringing a piece of the Caribbean to Stone…
When they decided to get married abroad, Beth and Ben always knew they wanted to have a wedding reception party back in Staffordshire for those friends and family who were unable to join them in Antigua.
When it came to choosing a venue, The Boat House was a clear favourite – even though it hadn’t been built yet, as Beth explains:
“We always loved Aston Marina, and even booked The Boat House before it had been built! I also make wedding cakes there and they’ve all become friends, I felt so relaxed having the party there.”
The evening wedding reception party for 130 guests took place in September, with the couple looking to create a Caribbean vibe with florist Alison from Flowers & Co in Stoke designing tall vases full of either Caribbean palm leaves or bright orange and pink flowers. The party then kicked off with Caribbean punch while a steel band played on the decking – the relaxed format seeing guests enjoy a Caribbean BBQ, designed by The Boat House’s award-winning chefs, including jerk chicken, marinated shrimp, brisket and rice and peas followed by a dessert table and sweet cart.
When it comes to picking the ultimate moment from two great celebrations, both Beth and Ben agree the ceremony itself was the highlight, as Ben eloquently explains: “Marrying the most beautiful, sweet and talented girl in the world in one of the most beautiful corners of the world is more than I could ever have wished for.”
