Information For Tweedies Bar and Lodge

Brian & Gillian Roberts started Tweedies Bar & Lodge 15 years ago with their sons James who is the head chef, and Alex who runs the bar and restaurants. Since then it has turned into a thriving Bar, Restaurant & Hotel, popular with both locals and tourists alike.

Before Tweedies as we know it today, from 1922 until 1976 a gentleman called Mickey Moscrop would visit the bar to sell his tweed, and was a legend in lake district folklore. Tweedies was named to carry on the legend. His tweed is no longer for sale here, but you will find pockets of tweed sewn throughout the Bar & Lodge in honour of Mr Tweedie.

Gillian and Brian Roberts have been the proud family owners of Tweedies Bar and Lodge since 2005, priding themselves in creating a home-from-home experience for you to enjoy in the English Lakes District.
You’ll also get the chance to meet their sons Alex, James and Jack.

Alex’s passion for the pint is unrivalled in the Lakes, well, so they say! Alex is in charge of the bar ensuring there are plentiful beers, ales and perries available for you to try.
James leads the kitchen preparing fresh, locally sourced, exciting culinary delights and some familiar home comforts too.

Dancing in the daffodils with the two youngest members Etta and Phoebe is not
compulsory but will most certainly place a spring in your step.

The hotel offers 16 rooms, ranging from our Nest & Nooks (Double & Twin) up to our Suites. For something a little different why not try our Mews Rooms, located in a separate annex to the hotel, with hot tub and private courtyard they are perfect for a trip away with friends.

We have been a licensed wedding venue for the past 14 years, with our Weddings & Events Co-Ordinator Laura Goodall being here since the very beginning, she is the perfect person to make sure your special day is exactly as you have always envisioned it.

Whether you would like a small wedding, held within the hotel itself, or a larger wedding, with a marquee in one of the gardens, we can cater to any vision you have for your day.
