The Three Hills is a multi award winning beautifully designed country pub in a stunning rural setting offering an exceptional environment in which to eat, drink and stay.
We are located in Bartlow, the smallest village in Cambridgeshire. The combination of the traditional feel of a 17th century coaching inn marries well with the contemporary Orangery restaurant, with its distinctly New England feel. Both are complemented by the impressive and attractive outdoor covered patio, beyond which is a further large traditional pub garden and meadow bordering the River Granta. Our seven bedrooms, all uniquely designed, offer a high standard of luxury, with every detail carefully thought out to maximise the customer experience.
Our customers comment on the delight of finding such wonderful food in the middle of rural Cambridgeshire. We have been nationally recognised with awards from the National Pub and Bar Association (Best Pub in Cambridgeshire), Estrella Damm Top50 gastropubs (no. 22 and top newcomer in 2021), the Michelin Guide for the last three years and the AA Association (2 AA Rosettes for all four years). We were also picked by Sawdays as one of their Telegraph 40 best pubs in the UK for a Sunday roast.
Exceptional Outdoor Space
Our beautiful canopy has given us the flexibility to enhance our outside offering no matter what the season and has been a fabulous addition to The Three Hills. Picked by The Telegraph as one of the 50 best British pubs with beer gardens we have worked hard to take full advantage of this wonderful space. Sheepskin rugs, blankets, hot water bottles and powerful outdoor heaters ensure that customers are warm and comfortable no matter what the weather, and when the sun is out guests can take advantage of our large landscaped pub garden. For special days we open up the horsebox bar from which we serve a variety of drinks and ice creams. Customers also enjoy pizzas cooked in our Italian pizza oven on our regular pizza evenings and BBQs from our bespoke barbecue for larger gatherings.
High Standard of Rooms
Our high standards are reflected in each of our seven rooms. Immaculately clean, they look as fresh as they did when we opened in November 2017. Each room offers a high level of comfort, guests welcomed with a Roberts radio playing classical music, the blinds drawn and the bedside lights on. White Company toiletries and large fluffy towels, Egyptian cotton sheets, Nespresso machines, fizzy water, fresh milk and mini fridges are all part of the room offering. The Times has recently included us in their article “Ten Cool Pubs with Rooms”, and we are part of the Epicurean Club, a hand-picked group of pubs with rooms which go above and beyond normal expectations. We have recently been nominated in the Top 5 Best Boutique Stays in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire by Muddy Stilettos. Our rooms have a 5 star award from the AA.

The rooms are lovely, spotless with really nice cosy touches. The food is outstanding, all of our guests are still raving about it! The Sunday lunch is delicious I would highly recommend it. Warm friendly staff, well stocked bar and great atmosphere! Thanks again for a lovely weekend!
The food was insane, Harry the chef was so friendly, and made sure that we had everything that we wanted. So many of our guests said that the food was the best wedding food they had ever had - and he even created a salted caramel brownie station for us! As well as accommodating vegetarian, gluten and dairy free diets.
All the staff were incredible, so friendly, accommodating of last minute covid changes ad all entered into the spirit of the wedding making it the most amazing day. We hired out the venue and therefore also booked all of the rooms on site for our friends and family to stay at. The rooms are perfect, very comfortable, clean and cosy.
We cannot recommend The Three Hills highly enough.
We cannot thank you all enough for everything you did to make sure our wedding was perfect. Coming to The Three Hills to celebrate our marriage was the best decision we made.
