Information For The Space Arts Centre

A small, characterful theatre and bar in a converted church. Flexible floor space to provide a unique, memorable, curated experience.

We are a small charity arts venue situated in a Grade II listed former church. Though we operate mostly as a theatre, we have flexible facilities to let you create the wedding of your dreams. We have an on-site bar and atmospheric beer garden that is able to provide a wide range of refreshments and drinks packages, located upstairs in the former vestry. We also have a fully equipped kitchen for external caterers to prepare your food, we are seeking to offer in-house catering from Spring 2022.

The Space is located at the bottom of the Isle of Dogs, a short bus ride from Canary Wharf and just across the river from Greenwich Spacious, well-lit and reasonably priced Facilities include tables, chairs, PA system, lighting, cafe/bar and free wifi. Additional services include use of Steinway B grand piano and projector. We can patch in DJs or a live band, as well as microphones for those important speeches. We have flat access to all entrances and guide dogs are welcome. The entrance doors are 1100 mm wide. There is level access from the pavement and a cobbled area in the courtyard. Matthew is the Deputy Director of the Space. Having joined in 2019, from a background in hospitality and tourism, Matthew has provided high quality events for many different occasions and clients. Matthew will work with you for the Space to discuss layout, logisitics, lighting, whatever you need and will also liaise with the Space Bar to provide a menu of refreshments to bring your perfect wedding to the Space. Matthew also has a full list of recommended caterers and contacts to provide any extra service that you need for your special day.
