Rownhams House is a beautiful Georgian House full of romance and character. The house is situated in 12 acres of magical gardens and woodland, complete with its own lake.
The House offers an atmosphere of elegance & striking architectural design. The Grand Library has stunning ornate plastered ceilings and walls with sash windows which flood the space with natural light. The adjoining decorative Billiard & Morning Rooms allow plenty of space for drinks receptions should the weather prevent the use of the gardens.
The large Georgian Manor House / Stately Home was built by Sir Issac Newton’s nephew in 1762. It was built in the style of the period with some modifications made such as central heating in the early 1900’s, when Lord and Lady Abinger resided there.
The medieval Coach House provides a stunning backdrop for outdoor weddings and photos with its medieval arches, castellations and tall clock tower.
The House is situated in 12 acres of magical gardens and woodland, complete with its own lake and ice house. The gardens provide many different photographic opportunities. The lawn is a wonderful space for socialising, drinks and playing lawn games, such as croquet. We provide a rustic outdoor and vintage Citroen HY Van bar and plenty of outdoor seating.
Grand Library – Capacity is 120. Beautiful Georgian room with high ceilings, sash windows and amazing wooden floor with plenty of natural light.
The Billiard Room – Capacity is 50. This is the cosiest room in the house, the green wall tones reflect its great views of the gardens.
The Morning Room – Capacity is 60. The elegance of this room, combined with the views of the Coach House make it ideal for smaller wedding parties.
The Coach House – Capacity 30 to 50. This provides a number of rooms for smaller wedding parties.
Outdoors – Capacity is 120. Outdoor weddings can take place under the Coach House arch, in the woods or by the side of the lake surrounded by woods.
Most Wedding Breakfasts are hosted in the Grand Library. Guests are surrounded by Georgian plaster work, high ceilings and views of the gardens. The maximum capacity is 120 guests for a sit down meal.
The Coach House at Rownhams House is the perfect setting for your evening reception and smaller weddings. The interior of the Coach house provides a spacious main entrance hall for the evening food, reception room for catching up with old friends, with a separate dance floor area for the DJ or band of your choice. A quirky dedicated bar area in the adjoining Knights Hall allows guests to order the drink of their choice. Capacity is up to 150 guests.

Welcome to Rownhams House, we would love to meet you and hear about your wedding plans. We live at the house and are passionate about running a small number of weddings each year here. We enjoy showing couples around the House and discussing how we can help you create your bespoke day. We leave you time to explore the gardens and enjoy the serenity of the lake. We are happy to hold a date for you while you discuss with key family & friends, and South Hampshire Registrars or your church. We would encourage you to visit a second time with your parents, as they love to visit your potential venue for that special day. Over the months we are on hand to give advice and recommendations, and host an Open Weekend in February each year for booked couples. Prior to your day we again host a meeting with your caterer to discuss the details of your day and ensure nothing has been left to chance. Over the months we build a relationship with you and it is always Helen or Nigel that deal with your queries, we do not palm you off to anyone else. It is important to have consistency and experience to ensure you have the perfect day. We hope you like what you see on ukbride and we can meet in person.

Top Wedding Tips
Do not over feed your guests! Many guests are treated to canapes, 3 course meal and then more food in the evening. Think about when you are feeding your guests and how much.
Remember to spend some time together on your special day. With so many guests wanting to speak to you, the day goes so fast, and before you know it it over!
How many guests do you really need for a wedding? With COVID it has shown us all that perhaps weddings don't need to be as big as before...
