As most of you know I fell pregnant which we have been very excited!
However I was made redundant about 3 weeks ago as the big contractor at work cancelled our contract and due to that my role was made redundant.
Due to this we have had a fall in wages by about £500 a month so will struggle to save the money we need for the wedding unless I get another job. however due to the fact I am 10 weeks pregnant now I know I am going to struggle to find a job just for the next 6 months.
I don't know what to do. we arnt struggling for money generally its just we arnt getting the extra income to save for the wedding. Does anyone have any advise?
The only thing i can think of is to cancel the venue we have already booked and look for something cheaper as we cannot afford the £6k wedding we dreamt of anymore!
    xxx

Have you though at looking at temporary work? THere are loads of companies who only want someone for a couple of weeks or months to cover holiday/sickness/maternity. You could do the temporary work until you have the baby and then look for full time work when you are ok to go back to work?

register with as many agencies as you can and see what temping jobs are out there too, i know agency work wont guarantee any long time work, but its better than nothing, and sometimes you get lucky and get something ongoing! I agree it is unlikely you will get anything permanent as you will only need to go on maternity leave a few months down the line (you won't be entitled to mat pay from your new employer either)

good luck hun, its not the best of timings ):

If youre only 10 weeks pregnant they dont really need to know you are, but if they dont employ you because of that, thats wrong, unless obviously its because its heavy lifting etc, but it shouldnt stop you, you stil have at least 4/5 month work out of you, and yeah look at agencies, and congratulations on your baby!! I havent been on here in a while!! xx

Sorry to hear about your redundancy. Its not an easy time at all - I've been there.

Get yourself on the R33d website Jordan and have a hunt around on there. Thats where I found my current job. There's no reason you couldn't find temp/part-time work.

If it's important to you to be married, then maybe downscale your plans a little, or even just have a nice Registry office wedding. Otherwise, you could always postpone until after the baby is born and he/she can be there with you :o)

How about direct selling or party plan?. You work for yourself with a big company, choosing your own hours etc. I know you may not earn much money at the start and you are relying on people buying from you. But at least it is something coming in towards your wedding. Then if you do find a full time job you can still do above alongside it.

Do you live in an area where they do seasonal work as you might find that you can get yourself a good job for the summer?

If not do what the others have said and pop your name on an agency
