This might sound vague as a title but what would you consider to be your best idea for your big day? Was it nicked from here, or a magazine, or are you just clever ;-)
At the moment I would say i'm pleased with my idea to put teeny turquoise buttons on the table as table confetti. I couldn't get confetti to match my colour theme (pale turquoise) and buttons are my theme (They'll be on the cake, the stationery, the ring cushion etc). Cost more than confetti/crystals that I could have bought from the bay as I've bought about 600, but the practice layout I did looked fab, enhances my theme and hopefully can sell them on in bulk afterwards on the bay and reclaim some of my cash!!!
Other than that the idea I saw from Minniemoocher about having old photographs of parents' and grandparents' weddings inspired me to get some pics in the mix and my dad is borrowing a projector from his school so I can have a load of photos on a white wall during the day. I also want to show some of my friends' photos from the day during the night (a quick sd card - laptop transfer after the speeches) so evening guests get to see pics of the ceremony etc.
Share away! x

oooh i am FULL of ideas for ours...
My oh was close to her gran who passed away some eyars ago, so we're having a little photo of her hanging from my oh's bouquet, and a bigger one on the cake table. We also are going to collect other family members wedding photos and hang them on a tree or something.
THen my dress, i plan to add hotfix gems myself to the bust area and round the botton to add some sparkle, i am MAD about sparkle, not BLING but just a touch of oooh sparkly lol. ALso going to add a few to my tiara, and the floer girls dress.
We're using sating chair bows as table runners, theyre far cheaper and are really long and wide....
we're having dolly mixtures (yes! We ARE mad) on the wedding cake,
we are also having cup cake cases filled with retro sweets and mini love hearts, wrapped in celphane with a ribbon and placed on a cupcake stand...
we got a butterfly craft stamper and are making our own confetti with that..
i also wanted 100's of oragami butterflies, but none of us can do oragami and we have tried lots, we end up with squashed fly looking things ha ha ha
we're also going to walk under an arch of sparkers, and release paper lanterns in the evening too....
and if i can arrange it i am goin to suprise my OH with a ride on the top deck of the local ferry, sounds odd but we love the ferry and the kids do too, but youre never allowed on the top deck
see, totally crakcers!

My best/most personal idea, was to do away with an evening do and instead incorporate our love of film, by creating our own cinema and having a film screening. We both hate dancing and love the cinema so was a perfect evening activity for us. xx

Love that idea Kaya!!
I think our best and very personal idea is our theme!
When I was little my Mum used to call me Snow White (I was pale, had really jet black hair and rosey cheeks). She used to dress me up in a snow white outfit all the time. My Mum sadly passed away March 2010.
When I went dress shopping (the first time I might add), I really wanted to try some Hollywood dreams dresses on, because I absolutely love them! I picked 4 out I think, and tried 2 on, and decided they were too big, I felt like one of those gypsys lol! So was going to just put the other 2 back, so I tried the one on I had tried on at another shop, thinking that was the one, and didnt feel the magic I did in the other shop. So the lady took me back into the changing room and persuaded me to try another hollywood dreams one on. She told me she thought I would look stunning in it, so I tried it on.
When I looked up into the mirror, she said...'Gosh, you look just like snow white'. This sealed that the dress was the one, and I feel it was my mums way of telling me she loved it too.
So thats the dress I got. It was a sample dress too. Reduced from £1500 to £950. I would never have been able to afford £1500, so it was just fate! And the dress is in perfect condition, still crisp white!!
xx
We were thinking of using a mirror table plan anyway, and also a wishing well post box...and both these items fit in to our theme already!

Ahh great ideas! I am going to do a few sweet trees after seeing it on here.
Snow White theme is lovely. Great ideas aplenty i'm sure!
I think my absolute best idea actually was going to the 'bridal basement' in Liverpool where they have last season's stock, overstocks, samples, and dresses from shops that have closed down etc, all brand new and all under £400 and getting my beautiful Trudy Lee dress for £349! It's fab. Unfortunately it was a sample so there are no photos of it anywhere, but least it's rare! x

My H2B has actually come up with the best idea so far so all credit to him...
We are getting married at the navy base in our city centre (royal navy reserve forces) and its a beautiful place, with a dock full of private boats out the back. One of these mini-ships is going to pick us up in the Albert Dock (for those ladies from liverpool you will know where i mean, by the pumphouse pub) and sail up to our evening reception venue about 20 minutes ride away!
We're having just us and the photographer on board, with a big just married banner on the back of the ship with a few glasses of bubbly to celebrate with the white ensign flying behind us! And best of all, its costing us nothing! Now who can say thats not an entrance! Our reception venue has a balcony area that all our guests will be called out to so they can watch us coming in.

Hard to say what was the best idea....
First of all probably not to marry in Austria but the UK - so much easier for us. Next is finding the venue we've got - I'm still patting my own back for this glorious treasure I found.
Going for a thrifty approach is not an idea but an attitude towards life I always have. I have so many little ideas and I love them all - my whole wedding is handmade by me or friends are helping me with their skills. Those were all brilluant ideas - asking certain people for help. And my own decision to steer clear of flowers is not a surprising idea if you know me but I had nit planned to crochet my bouquet - this only came to me a few months ago. I think that's my fabourite idea.
But I like them all :-) I had lovely input from certain ladies on here but my main inspiration comes from my favourite wedding blogs. When I first got engaged I bought a few wedding magazines - but that's nit my thing, never liked them and certainly not for inspiration.

I know what you mean about magazines. I bought a few mags at first and everything was too pricey too designer and not really me. Then I found a couple of smaller cheaper ones that had lots of real life wedding features in it that were a bit more inspiring. I found their initial timeline, checklists, budget advice useful but I haven't bought one in a while.
When I picked buttons as a theme I looked at a few blogs that featured button ideas and they've been really helpful.
You're so good to make things by hand. I wish I had the skills and patience to do that!

I love to read Conde Nast Brides, but that's because I love Vogue! The big glossy magazines aren't useful if you want something a little out of the ordinary or that's not a huge budget then they're not particularly helpful!

I love wedding magazines. My Fiance bought me a stack of wedding magazines and a wedding planner for Christmas, I was so excited. But you're right, everything in them is wayyy too expensive. We're having our wedding as cheap as possible, but I like to have a look just for fun :)

Thank you Smarties - patience is not my biggest virtue. I tend to start a million things at once but then struggle to finish. But for the wedding I HAVE to finish :-)

I bought some when we were first engaged, but I quickly got bored of them. I do however like to pick up a real wedding one occasionally, the last one I bought ended up having my venue featured :) x

:-) it's true though. I think I bought one about 3 days after getting engaged and was probably stood looking all smug and pleased with myself in the queue! Haha!
I've bought a couple and been bought a couple. I suppose like with some fashion magazines I like an idea then try find it cheaper. I think I saw my shoes in one and got idea for a bracelet in another. But nothing major.
I like reading tips from real life brides - much like on here. Also I like to see photos of happy couples at their wedding. It makes me all giddy about mine! x
