I have recently been checking out alot of wedding fairs but most of the stands (espectially photographers) seem to look very similar and tbh I'm getting slightly bored of them. I was just wondering what attracts you to a suppliers stand and if you've seen anything different which really stood out. I'm seriously getting put off going to them...

wedding fairs are boring unless there is free stuff. and i hate talking to photographers at wedding fairs, because they always try to tell me i'm not allocating enough of my budget to photos and albums and tonnes of other stuff that will just gather dust! xx

lol at the fabric conditioner....I've definately not had that. My daughter has been loving all the cake though :) and I did get a really horrible chocolate from a local hotel....not even in a wrapper!!!
Once I know what it is I'm looking for exactly I might try again and se if its any better.

I usually check them out first if they're happy and smiling I talk to them I don't like the pushy ones they do my head in don't mind the freebees not keen on some of the cake ive tried seems to dry out really quickly, I like going to the wedding venue ones as you can have a sneaky peak around.
like it if they give big discounts on the day even better, and competitions and are able to answer all your questions without having to make further bookings with them, plus my 3 year old loves the free chocolate

Ah yes, I booked my venue based on the fayre they held as one of the rooms used will be my ceremony room. But ask me if I can remember any of the suppliers in that room? Not a chance! I think there was a photographer and a makeup girl, but I'm not sure.

Actually, I would only walk over if the stall holder was busy hassalling someone else first! Then I could browse their wares before deciding if I wanted to hang around for the spiel. I agree that all the photographers do look the same after a while, so I'd only approach them to have a feel of their albums and a nosy at their style. Then I'd actually take a copy of their pricelist, or other literature and scribble down my initial impression ("expensive, maybe too much", "nice, ask more questions", "avoid like the plague!") This works for other suppliers too.
Freebies are great, but it's only really, really useful if you can scribble notes at the time. The best freebie I got was a notepad and pen.

I'm sorry, I've got to ask. What supplier gave out fabric conditioner?

Lol the fabric condition was in a goodie bag we got for going to the wedding fayre in the Metro Arena in Newcastle. We also got a large bottle of Jergens natural body moisturiser (which I'm addicted to now), radox deoderant, two large bottles of Head and Shoulders conditioner and shampoo, some Ariel stain remover, and loads of little miniature goodies which I saved and am giving to my BMs as a little treat. x

know how you feel i have been to 3 wedding fairs and they were all exactly the same and to be honest i have found they bump up there prices so they can offer you special on the day deals so you think you are getting a bargin when if you contact them outwith the wedding fairs you can get the same deal or better sometime with a little bit of haggling but you expect that now i have just been looking up local venduers and contacting them direct and it pays to let them know if you have been offered a better deal else where i have found they usally try and better it if not match it xx

I love wedding fayres - the freebies are always a bonus...especially cake but I tend to visit the stands that I haven't booked / or to get ideas for things. And it ALWAYS helps if the person on the stand actually gives you the time of day, I've walked away from so many stands when the sales person has been rude or not interested to help...at the end of the day, if you can't be bothered to try and talk to me then I can't be bothered giving you my custom!

Love the freebies, and smily faces, people that just let you look at their stand but are approachable if needed!!!! I have a real dislike for pushy sales people, if i say no thank you i mean no thank you lol.

I've only ever been to one wedding fayre and never again!!! I found every stand was just trying to give us the hard sell, and the fashion show was ridiculous - all the models looked barely out of high school (so not very realistic brides lol) and some couldn't even walk properly in the high heels they were wearing - very entertaining if nothing else pmsl.
