I am sure I've seen a similar thread on here before, but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, last week MIL2B said that we don't include details of our Wedding Gift List with the evening invitations, we should only give if people ask. However we've been to quite a few evening receptions where the gift list has been included.
So we were thinking of including details of the list but with a little note which says that just having the pleasure of your company is a gift in itself (or something like that!)
What do you think? and what are you doing?
Thanks :-)

Im making lil pocket fold invites so all little details like gift list, directions, rsvp card and my wedding a-z will be included with the invite. I think these days it really doesnt matter when you hand out the gift list as long as they get it. especially if like many on here your not having a gift list and asking for contributions towards something instead like a new bed or even your honeymoon?? I like the idea of the poem tho but im still trying to find one i like lol.

I think you should definately put it in the invite as most people expect it in there these days as it's so popular!!

I think we're just going to include them in the evening reception, just in case people want to buy a gift. We'll just make sure that we have some inexpensive items on it. We're using a high street store for ours, so they'll be able to buy gift vouchers. We were going to have a honeymoon website, but one of hte Ushers has offered us use of his holiday home in Turkey for a discounted price so we're going there with our daughter straight after the wedding and then a mini moon (just us) later in the year :-)
Hails, that's a good idea. Are you making them yourself? I am going to make my invitations myself, just get all the little bits printed at the printers and put them altogether. I like the personal touch, espeically a poem. I am going to have a look for one!

We arent having a gift list, we are going to find somewat to politely say that we have our home and yes we may want to make improvements so should you wish to give something money would be very kindly appreciated. We are also going straight from reception to hotel near airport as early morning flight next day so we will say at reception if anyone has given us something in the aim for us to take with us then please say cos we wont be opening pressies for another 2 weeks. I think defo include your gift list in evening invites people generally still wish to bring something and that way they will feel they are helping :) xx

I think we will put the gift list in the evening invites. We've got a house full, but everything that we have is getting really old, so a good excuse to have some nice things to start off our married life! I am sure our daughter will benefit too.
How exciting going straight on your honeymoon from your reception. We have to wait until the Monday, which I suppose will give us time to recover!! Natalie - where are you going on your honeymoon?

personally i wouldnt put in the evening invites.....different with the day ones cause those are the people trav lling to share all day with you ..think its a bit cheeky to expect evening guest who are only goin to be there a few hours, to give gifts
but thats just my view on it x

Natalies - that sounds lovely, we wanted to go there. We're going to Turkey to a friends holiday home and then hoping to have a mini moon somewhere, probably a city in Italy.

awww both sound lovely. It was a bit over what we wanted to pay but we are only going to do it once and wanted it to be special cos its prob the only time we will go abroad for a very long time xx

yes I know what you mean. I really couldn't decide and as we have to take our Daughter with us (she'll be 15 months old) we wanted to go somewhere that was only a few hours flight.

or set up a wedding website and have the details of your gift list on there. And put the link to our wedding website on the evening invites! so when people go for a look, they will see your gift list, but you havnt actually sent it to them and can buy off it if they want!

yes that was something else that we were thinking about doing, just in case. There are some people who are coming in the evening that would want to buy us something, mainly friends of H2B's parents. They all got us engagement presents.
