I am getting married in Aug next year and my fiance and i are trying for a family so my question is if we have a child before the wedding (which we really hope will happen!!!!) where should our child sit at the wedding? is at the top table if so whereabouts on the top table im so confuse someone please help

usually kids dont sit at top table, but its your wedding, do as you like. My nephew who will be 2 years old will be at the top table seeing that I want to sit with my mum and sister and no one else from family comes and can look after him
Soon to be Mrs Gary Doublé
Everything is now booked
Getting really stressed and excited now

i have a 5 year old and a 8 year old and they will both be at the top table sat next to my parents ( its my wedding they can have the responsibility for a day ) but yet the are still the most important people at the wedding apart from me and my partner so the need to be in the thick of it :-)

I like the way you think Nikki

Well thats what im thinking too apart from me and my fiance our children will be the most important people there :-)
I agree with Nikki - I am not sure if we will have a traditional top table - rather a family table for immediate family. Our son will be with us but generally my mil and my parents will have the responsibility as far as it's possible.

theres only 21 at my wedding so were not really having a top table at all just a big square that we cann all face each and chat :)

That's a nice idea Tillyturtle. I don't want a top table either - I hate the way they're stuck up the front of the room and you can only really chat to one person either side, blurgh, I like LMB's idea of a family table, have mentioned the notion to h2b on past occasions but looks like I may have some persuading to do... :(

for us it just seemed obvious with it being such few people segregating us even more would look rather silly...

We don't have any children yet but our top table is going to be oval in shape as there's only 7 of us on there, so we want to be able to see each other rather than be in a long line :-)
CommentAuthormadhen
Yes it would look a bit silly alright! That's a nice idea Bridalmiss, I really have a thing against big long tables, reminds me of school a bit too much maybe!

Ooooh bad mum alert.....i had not even considered the kids being on the top table (if we have one) I had thought of a kids table though as it will only be our 2, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 2 cousins. I think they would prefer their own "grown up" table (my children i mean)

When my cousin got married, there little one aged 18mths sat in a high chair next to her dad & hubbies mum at the top table. Myself (cheif bm and parents) entertained the little one during the meal and speeches he was goog as gold bless him!!

We have one son who will be 3 and a half by the time we get married and I wouldnt dream of not having him at top table, he's our baby and he and his dad will be the main men there! I'll have him sitting between me and my mum - not traditional but then traditionally he wouldnt have arrived until after the wedding :)
I have asked my sons fave nursery nurse to come through for the reception, only because I know he'll get tired later and the only family he'd settle with will be an important part of the day already so 'supernanny' will be there incase he wants to sleep x

We arent having a traditional top table but our little boy will be sat with us and I couldnt imagine having him sat anywhere else.
Its entirely up to you though, as your baby will still only be very little. I cant imagine tiny babies + expensive wedding outfits + food would be a very practical mix haha
