Try g00g1ng wedding venues in Hertford, plenty of places should come up.

As for your h2b, many men are slow in getting excited about their wedding day and planning. Give him time.

Have you set a date yet!?

Not at all, 2 years is a good time to look for venues and then book once you find the perfect place.

Its never too early to start booking things. Especiall since you can't book a lot of things until you have the venue sorted. Photographers are definately some to do soon after booking the venue as they get booked years in advance.

In regards to your OH. At this stage a lot of grooms wont be as enthusiastic as their partners in getting the ball rolling. It took a few months for my OH to come around a little during the first while but rememeber a lot of the "vision" will be from you. He will likely be watching the purse strings. My OH only really started showing his excitement when we found the caterer we really liked. He sampled the food at a wedding event and got really enthusiastic that he grabbed me from another booth and dragged me there to try tuna profiteroles (which, by the way... are awesome)

He has shown excitement at other times too but to be honest a lot of the "vision" and enthusiasm is from me.

Hi! it's never too early to start looking and booking the main bits, we have already paid a deposit and booked our venue and the registrar for our wedding on 31.12.17 lol. I'm holding back on looking at certain aspects (eg entertainment- if I book a band now who's to say they will still be performing together in 2 and a half years time, dress- if I keep eating cake the way I do I'll be about 6 sizes bigger by my wedding day!!) but really getting stuck into other things (e.g designing my invites/std's and coming up with DIY plans). Don't worry about your h2b not being excited, mine showed a decent amount of interest in the venue (after I explained to him why we have to sort it so early) but hasn't showed any interest in anything else as of yet, in fact when I told him the other day I'm going to leave him in charge of buying suits he asked me why he couldn't wear the one he already has!!!!
Good luck with everything. Keep us up dated!

    Hi Charlotte,

Have you looked into Hertford Castle? It's really nice there, but ended up to small for us with OH family. We are getting married in Fanhams Hall, Ware - so not far from Hertford and we really fell in love with the grounds! Definitely not too early to book things like the venue as these are booked up so far in advance nowadays! Enjoy planning :)

    Hi,
I don't think it's too early to start booking, by doing so you are guaranteed to get the venue and date of your choice. Popular venues and services appear to be getting booked up earlier and earlier. We started looking Jan 2014 for a July 2016 wedding. We looked at Fanhams Hall, Hanbury Manor, and a few further out like The Sheene Mill, near Cambridge. A lot of people have mentioned The Priory in Ware. We didn't look at that one though so not sure. Worth a look though as you are nearby. Congratulations and good luck.

i booked my venue 2 years in advance, but most guys tend to be a bit more hands off.
i have just over 3 months to go and my other half still seems to be rather unhelpful.

I don't think it's too early to start booking! 18 months before was when we booked and whilst we've luckily managed to get where we wanted, places were starting to go already! xxxx

Try to find something your h2b is already interested in to get him involved. Mine absolutely loves music so when I started talking about songs we could have played at the reception he got very enthuastic and started making a playlist of all the songs we wanted. X
