    Hi all,

I am in two minds on what to do and would like to hear your thoughts.

My long term partner and have finally decided to book a date to get married.

he gave me 2 options lol.

    11/11/11 or 12/12/12

    which i am fine with.

My issue is I have feel in love with a venue i really like which I could not afford until 2012 as my partner is not working at the moment and i do not want to book it for 2011 if i am going to struggle to pay it. It come with everything basically except flowers and the outfits.

    Or

We can have a much lower budget wedding in 2011 which i was ok with until i saw this venue. I would also have to organise everything myself.

    What would you do?

    xxxxxxxxxx

I would wait and save for the venue but we are 2012 anyway so it doesnt seem like a big deal to wait til then to me

I would personally wait until 2012. You have been together and will be together for years to come so what is another year? You are better to have the day that you always wanted than look back and wish you had waited a few months for the wedding you always wanted.

If you have fallen in love with the venue and h2b likes it too then i would wait as well :-)
If you go for 2011 but have to have another venue you will always regret it i think. This way you get what you want and longer to save.
You could always buy the little stuff now then the bigger stuff later!

I'd wait if it is THE venue. Why those dates though? Do they fall on weekdays, as it could help with the 2011 cost? :o)

Depends how you feel about getting married on a Wednesday? As the 2012 falls on a we'd (it's actually my bday) and the November one is a fri so that would make it easier for your guests. A midweek wedding could cause problems for guests, especially trying to get tine off that near Xmas. Would your h2b not change the date so you could still have your dream venue? I couldn't wait myself though xxx

We had this exact problem. We were getting married in December 2011 but for the budget we could afford in that time, we were limited to certain venues, and my dream venue which I wanted to marry at back in 2008 was completely out of the question as it was more expensive so I gave up on finding THE perfect venue. We went for a hotel but MIL2B said it was ugly, so we went for an inn and MIL2B didnt like that either. I got fed up and lost all interest in finding a good venue and started letting MIL2B opinions rule our decisions. However H2B went and put a deposit down for my original DREAM venue...the only catch being we now have to wait till December 2012 to marry to have the time to afford it all. I know now we have made the right decision to wait an extra year as Im soooo excited about our wedding again....it all fits and feels so right! The only thing I would say is if its your dream venue go for it...dont do it to impress others and dont let others opinions sway your decisions .....it needs to feel right to you. xxxx

    Ooh - now there's a dilemma and a half!!

I guess it all boils down to your own attitudes towards the wedding/getting married - it isn't the venue that makes your wedding perfect, it isn't the amount of money you do or don't spend, it isn't about what you can/can't afford - what makes the perfect wedding is the love, commitment and devotion you have for each other.

We could have waited another couple of years and had something 'better' but after we ummed and ahhed we decided that we could have got married in a skip and had the reception in a cardboard box and it wouldn't have been any less 'special' or 'important' to us.

Only you 2 can make this decision - good luck!!
    xxx

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

Well..... i was waiting till june 2012 for our 10yr anniversary, but i have found somewhere so much nicer and only 2k more and for 60 guests not 19, and for feb 2011.... now i wanna get married asap so would love this new place, but its getting the money to do it now thats the prob, in 2012 the prices of the new place are to expensive so not like i could save up till then, they almost double in price, in which case i would have to stick to my current venue!!!!

So.... do you know the prices for 2012 as they can be massively different, and thus you still couldnt afford it.... If you can tho, and your happy to wait then wait

I would wait...that's what we are doing, It wasnt a money issue just the dates were not free for a Sat so we held off till 2012. Glad as now we are expecting our first baby due Feb 2011 so I dont have the stress of 4 months to lose any weight lol xx

I've just gone through a similar thing.
We were planning to marry on 25/04/2012 until I discovered that the venue we wanted to marry in is under going renovations which although they are scheduled to end in Feb 2012 the owners dont want to take any bookings for weddings until the september. So my dilemma was marry in a registry office in the april or wait just another 6 months until the september.

So we are going to wait , 6 months more will give me
    more time to save
more time to do those special things
and more time to enjoy the run up to our very special day x
