    We were doing save the dates, then we saw how much it was going to cost, going to diy, not really practical, then we started toying with the idea of setting up an event on Book of Face as 99% of our guests are on there. Something like;
    "Just a reminder, next July we're getting married, make sure you book your time off work. Formal invites to follow in 6-8 months"

    Is this a good idea or is it a bit trashy and impersonal? Be honest ladies - like you're ever anything else ;)

    It's right what they say
    "The course of true love never runs smoothly"
    But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
    much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

    Why not? I would make sure its a secret group though so others can't see it.

    I think it's a lil impersonal but I don't see it being a problem for save the dates.... invites it wouldn't be good for but save the dates it's ok I think. We got 48 save the date magnets from ebay for £17 x

    I like the idea, I would probably steal your idea...with your consent of course if most of my guests were on there...however theres probably around 20-30% on book of face for ours. Not trashy at all. xxx

    I think book of face is actually quite good, and not that impersonal because you can send messages directly to people and you have proof that 1. it has been sent and 2. that they have actually got it! lol. Youll get more responses too I bet.

    Thanks for the input sweethearts :)

    Normally making STDs wouldn't be a problem but this year everything's come at once so it's really not practical. Looked into the cheap STDs (Vistaprint etc) but then you've got postage to take into account and a fair few of our guests are international so it was going to cost a bomb - and with Honey starting school and needing kit for that then Squiggs due in October, Honey's birthday, Christmas..........well, better things to spend the dosh on ;)
    I appreciate it would have to be a secret event, half my list thinks they've got an invite and I'm like "Huh? I haven't spoken to you in over a year, me thinky not" I might just do it through a mass PM as I know most of them don't bother checking their emails.

    We're doing our own website too Karlie - needs a bit of work doing on it though ;)

    If anyone wants to hit me up on Book of Face I'm Kerrylou Greenwood, but you'll have to let me know it's you otherwise I'll be like "What? More randomers?" hehe

    Alsbetty - do you mean Wedding Book? If you do DON'T DO IT!! It's full of spoiled rich American kids who think that unless you have a designer fiance and mummy and daddy pay thousands for your wedding then your wedding is total trash :( Hideous breed of women that use that app. Has to be said though, I did meet some lovely ladies on there, but they were a rare breed!! xxx

    pinkalice - not sure if I'm allowed to post my email addy here, I'll put it on your wall xxx

    I've done this, made it private and invited all the people that I was definitely inviting, poped a funny pic on it of me and will and sent it. I have also posted things like pics of the venue, and links to the local hostel. Not only is it free, it also ethical :)
