I might sound really stupid now, but I've no idea about this - when you're saying your vows, what do you do with your engagement ring? Do you leave it on and put the wedding ring on as well or do you take it off and just have the wedding ring on for the wedding?
Can't wait until the 14th July 2012!

I think I seen another post somewhere about this hun, I wondered before that too. It's off when you take your vows - can either be on the other hand to be switched over later or can be put back on at the same time as the wedding ring x

I'm going to put my engagement ring on my right hand and keep it there, It's a funny shape so won't fit around my wedding ring
Traditionally the engagement ring is transferred to the right hand before the wedding ceremony so that when the wedding ring is placed on the ring finger its on its own. There is no clear reason for this but engagement rings were first used in the 13th century because the pope brought in a mandatory waiting period between 'bethrothal' and marriage. So women started to wear a ring to show they were 'taken'.
These days the tradition isn't so strict so some peole choose to keep the engagement ring on, some transfer it to the other hand (if it fits) and others just ask somebody to keep it safeuntil its time for the photos - much as described above!
We think you should just do whatever YOU feel comfortable with.

We had to replace my engagement ring after buying the wedding rings and neglected to think about how it would look with the wedding ring. When we thought about it later, I tried them together only to find that they don't look good together so I am going to transfer my engagement ring to the other hand on the morning of the wedding and keep that is where it will stay. xxx
