This might be silly question but the rehearsal is that just a run through of the ceremony so people know what to do or do you have a dinner aswell and if so do we pay for it? xx

I've been to two rehearsals, and we just ran through the ceremony so the bridal party knew what to do.
On both occasions, we all just went to the pub afterwards for some drinks - no food. It was lovely to get together and talk about the wedding and get excited! No one will be expecting you to pay for dinner :-) x x x

The rehearsal is just that, a rehersal of the ceremony.
I think some go for a meal afterwards, nothing formal. I believe the Americans though have a formal dinner afterwards called the rehearsal dinner which is paid for traditionally by the parents of the groom.

I had looked online and read about the rehearsal dinner and started to panic a but about the cost, didn't realise it was an American thing. Would be nice to have drinks after though xx

2 weeks sounds ok. Our priest said that ours will be approx 1 week before. No idea yet what we'll do after if anything, not thought that far ahead, I think it'll depend how busy we all are xx

Yeah, been to a couple rehearsal dinners in America but none in the UK. They tend to be informal events held in restaurants with the wedding party, extended family, and select guests. Generally there are speeches and gifts given to members of the bridal party and people that have helped with the wedding. It's a nice chance to talk to people and for family to spend time together before the big day.

Does everyone have a rehearsal these days? I'm really not sure I will be able to get everyone all together twice in a similar time frame from all over the country!
CommentAuthorSam
I don't really think they are required. You might want to talk to your officiant/vicar to see what they recommend.

Kimicharles I'm the same as you. I really want a rehearsal of some sort but getting everyone together would be a nitemare. A couple of my bm's are staying at the venue the night before but I'm going to be so busy I defo won't have the time that night!
