We booked out honeymoon over xmas and the flight out was at 9.30 which isn't too bad as it gives us some time to get up, get ready and get to the airport. We have now had a letter through saying that our flight times have changed and we are flying out at 7.30am! That means we have to be there at least 6.30 in the morning so leaving the house at about 5.45am at the latest. I don't do mornings very well at the best of times and it takes me a while to get moving. If I don't sleep well my pain levels increase and just really don't need this. I'm already worried about how I will be after the wedding and that one day isn't going to give me long enough to recover let alone having to be up at the crack of dawn. I know we will get there earlier but what is the point if I then can't enjoy it once I'm there. I can't believe that they have done this!

Does that mean that we can't change them at all and try and get a later flight? I'm not sure how the contract works as we signed up to different times.

I know it may sound like a silly idea but couldnt you just go to bed earlier the night before so that you still get the same number of hours sleep? Would that help? x

Are you flying out the day after the wedding? I am in the same boat as you, and am concerned about controlling my pain without resorting to morphine. I'm a light weight when it comes to alcohol, before you throw painkillers into the mix.

Could you stay at a hotel near the airport so you can have a little longer in bed? failing try going to bed earlier a few nights before the flight so that the early start isn't such a shock to the system

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

Oh that's not on :( I'd be unhappy too - you will be shattered the next day. Can you get a later flight?

unfortunately they can do this and they will sometimes if they have to but I agree they should have warned you that flights are subject to change with minimum notice. At least they didnt leave it until last minute and at least you are not flying the morning after your wedding.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

I could get to bed early but its like sending you to bed at 8pm. You may lie there but not sleep and if you add pain into the mixture as well its even harder. I just can't believe that they can change the flights from what you agreed to go with then they charge you if you want to change them to something else! How silly is that?

did they not say anything to you when you booked? we were told that although they were the times they could change as we booked a year in advance.

I understand your pain situation, im relying on morphine atm and they cannot guarantee that i will be ok for the wedding and they really arent very interested in helping me. :( Night is the worst for me, laying down. Im dreading being on a plane for 10 hours :(

Let us know how you get on. I would definately ring them up and ask xx

Is now happily married to my gorgeous man

Speak to them and explain your circumstances; although they can make changes, they might be able to help you, depending on the company, or they may be able to offer you a more sociable time at a higher charge/with an admin fee. I don't know if you're flying short-haul or long-haul; if you're flying short-haul it should be easy to switch, but if long-haul, your options will be limited, as many package operators only fly 1 or 2 days a week; meaning, you'd have to change your dates if you need a little more time, and they will likely charge you admin fees to do this.

Can I also say that arriving at 6.30 am for a 7.30 am flight is cutting it far too fine; you need to check-in/drop bags off, go through security checks, and then make your way to the gate. They usually start boarding around 30-45 mins prior to departure, and typically close check-in an hour before. You may have traffic to contend with, or queues at check-in or security (I flew out to Mexico and Cuba last year; with Mexico we thankfully had VIP check-in, but the security queues were HUGE, it took us an hour to get through; with Cuba it took 45 mins to check in and another 30 to get through security). With that in mind, you should aim to be at the airport for 5.30am at the latest; they have the 3 hour rule for a very good reason, because it allows for delays and queues.

I really do sympathise though and I hope you can get it sorted; do explain the situation with the fact you're in pain and hopefully they will be able to help.

If you REALLY want to go on this honeymoon you are going to have to suck it up and make plans to sort out your sleep and manage your pain. You know your flights are 2 hours early so you need to think about how best to prepare for it. You have 6 months to do that.

If its such a big deal for you then how about changing your honeymoon to a later date giving you enough time to recover and sort yourself out?
