Hi NinaP, thanks for your suggestion!

A gay couple that I know did that and I thought it worked beautifully for them! The other thing I forgot to mention is that h2b has kids from his previous marriage and that he doesn't want a different name from them (loooooong story!!!).

So it really is out of those options :( I really like the idea of a double-barrelled name as it sounds quite posh, but worried it sounds quite pretentious??

    Oh it's such a nightmare!!!!!

I love my surname now because it has so much history to it, but i love H2B's surname because people cant say it and he has to spell it out haha! Which sounds really stupid i know, but i think it makes it a lot more interesting if its a name people hardly hear! I'm curently Bethany Stanley, which i've always liked and never had a problem with, but when married it'll be Bethany Keleher, which is pronounced Kel-eh-her, but some people say Kaleher, purely because it is Irish and my H2B is from Yorkshire haha! :P

I have never been particularly fond of my current surname (Taylor) but to me it seems to work better than my future surname of Galbraith. I think it sounds clunky! lol. Still, I've waited a looonnnnng time (10yrs) and he could be called something really obscure for all I care, I just can't wait to become his wife! x

Can't wait to change my name either. No longer want to be a Foakes and be directly asscociated with my family (long story). So I will be going from Nina Foakes to Nina Dawson, and will be glad to finally be officially a part of the Dawson family, who have been more of a family to me in the past 3 years than mine ever have. Plus, mine and H2Bs initials will then both be ND so I may just steal his signature :P lol

My h2b did have a double barrelled name with his ex. I refused to take his ex's name (why should I?) and he has changed his surname by deed poll to his original which is jones.

My surname is Bolton. The issue is my daughter who has the same surname as me (I changed her name by deed poll from her dads due to his violence and so we are harder to trace than with his surname).

I don't want to change her name again and want to keep linked to her too.

My plan at the mo is to have my maiden name as my middle name Charlotte hannah Bolton jones. Although I may double barrel it.
But if I keep it that way I have bj as my initials!? Or Charlotte Hannah jones Bolton.

My oh isn't too bothered as he says with jones you just disappear into the ether which is kind of what I need with my ex! Plus I've booked our family holiday under the surname jones.

    Decisions!

I felt weird about changing it at first but my brother married earlier this year and his wifes name is now Katie Warrington - I hate it! It's so similar to my name and confuses me on facebook all of the time! Friends and family think I've put an update and then realise its her! So now I'm quite looking forward to changing it so I can get some individuality back!!!!

Soon to be Mrs Kathryn Eva Smirthwaite :-)

I am going from Miss Victoria Blake to Mrs Victoria Cameron-Davies.

I am happy to change my surname as its a new chapter in my life and would like the same name as kids when they come along.
I don't feel changing your surname means you are losing a part of your life, that part will always be with you. It is a new chapter, you can't change what happened.

I own my business Vickie Blake Therapies which will still be that as I have now built up a reputation on it. Just cos officially I will be Cameron-Davies I will always be a Blake.

I will go from Lisa Rose Collyer to Lisa Rose Cartwright so my initials won't change so signature won't be too much different. I was going to double-barrel it but it might be a bit of a mouthful

I'm an only child so it was a bit sad losing my surname - but I'm very traditional and so was happy to take my husband's name.
Unfortunately though, I spent years spelling my maiden name to people as it was Marlowe (I had to tell people that it had a E on the end lol). I'm now Maria Parkins - and seem to spend my time now telling people that it has an S on the end lol.
