I have just joined the site, I started planning my wedding about 5 months ago and am now desperate for some ideas & opinions and so found this site! :)
My first problem is finding the right DJ, every DJ i find and contact they just dont seem that bothered and dont go into detail just say I have to book first! I'm finding it hard to book a DJ that I have never met and have no idea what they are like, as I think the right DJ is important!?
Has anyone else had the same problem, or have any suggestions for me?
Thanks

I dont know if you have as yet booked your venue but quite a few have resident djs that should come highly reccommended. Alternativeley I can give you a link to a site that finds dj/all manner of other entertainers in your area including price and they are reccommended by the amount of stars next to their name. I will send you a friend request and once you accept I will post the link on your wall hun xx

hello and welcome. as i used 2 work in a pub, ive got a dj, he is doin it cheap 4 me but i also know what his equipment is like and how good he is. Why dont u try speaking to them and seeing if they have got any public performances coming up that you can pop along to and see how they are? x

Wow thank you so much for your replies! :)
stevie, my reception venue is the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Marlow. They have said they can recomend some DJ's but the prices are a bit high (my last resort at the moment). I think Its because the venue is quite large i want someone who I can be sure can entertain the guests and its hard without meeting them first. (maybe im being to picky lol) I'll look out for your friend request and have a look at the link, thats great thank you! :)
Mrsclarke2b, I tried that and one of them got funny with me and said he doesnt so public events only private functions and every set up is different lol
Congratulations and welcome. I can certainly agree that to book a dj you've never met or have any idea of their capabilities is difficult. I assume that you've taken a look on the web? Try a dj who has a standing set somewhere else, say a local pub - although obviously not one whose set is the same night as your wedding! That way you could go along and see how you like them first.
Now, finally, Mrs Riley
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I have the greatest husband!

Hi hun, welcome to ukbride. As u dont live in the same ares as me I cant really reccommend a dj. Im having the best in my area. His amazing. I will say if you want the best then pay more. We are paying alot for our dj becuase the evening music is important to us and we want everyone to have a really good time.
If you want to send me the details of where your venue is, date, times and budget (I won't pass this on), I can try and get a few contact details for you?
It's probably best if you email, which you can do by searching for me in the Suppliers section...i'm SJS Discos.
Hope to help.
Regards,
Scott.

mrsbarkertobe - oh wow i went to a wedding there last year its gorgeous! :) hope you dont mind me asking but as your getting married in 6 months i just wondered how much have you got booked? lol just i dont feel very prepared lol xx
CommentAuthorUnknown
of course i dont mind you asking. My cousins husband works there aswell as 2 of my cousins so it made sense to have it there as i know it is a decent venue!!
i dont feel very prepared eithe when i look at what some people have done and they arent getting married till next year!!
I have done the following: my dree, shoes, veil, tiara bridesmaid dresses groom suit chosen photographer (not paid deposit yet) bought both rings honeymoon booked chosen food for day chosen invites (to be made in march) bought all the favours
Think that is about it off the top of my head.
How about you. got much left to do? xx
CommentAuthorTuray2B
wow you have done alot :) I have done the following: Booked the church Booked the reception venue Got my Dress Got bridesmaids dress Got the mens suits Booked photographer Booked chair covers & table centre pieces & wish tree(like guest book) Found someone to do my flowers (havent chosen or payed yet) Brought stuff to make invites
Think thats it :)
Just feels like I have so much left to do!

think we have done about the same then. think i am going to have artifical flowers. seen a couple of designs i like. got to wait till tomorrow when we choose best man and ushers suits to decide on flowers so they match!!
i feel like there is loads to do aswell. still havnt got a final guest list. we were orignally going to have 60 for the day but now 70 so got to increase day list and h2b has got to cut down his evening list!! i havnt put many extra people on my evening list but he seems to have put everyone he knows on it.
I am just worried about actually being able to afford it at the mo!!

Tell me about it, my h2b keeps reminding me how I said at the start my budget was £3,000 before I entered the wedding world and it hasnt stopped growing! were both working so much to save up for it, I cant wait till June to have my weekends back! lol
What is your colour scheme? Its so nice to talk to someone that is getting married at a simular time :)
xx
CommentAuthorUnknown
yea it is very nice...especially as you live so close to me!! there are plenty of people gettign married this summer so you will get loads of ideas on here and find ways to save money. this website has helped me so much!!
My colour scheme is cadbury purple and ivory!! our budget is roughly £10,000 but that includes the honeymoon. should so it under that aswell!! have you sorted your cake yet?
i have sorted loads in my head spoken to people like cake maker, photographer just havnt paid any deposits yet.
We are going to sit down over the weekend and write everything down and how much it is going to cost so we know!! xx
CommentAuthorTuray2B
Yea my budget is the same as yours :) no i havent sorted cake yet i know the kind of thing we want but havent started looking for a cake maker as yet?
When i talk to my h2b about it he just gets stressed so his job was to do the suits which he's done (however I have to go in and change a few things lol).
xx
CommentAuthorUnknown
my h2b has hardly done a thing. i have just said to him do you like this and he says yes or no!! luckily he has agreed with most things i think. he chose his suit but i was there as i said it had to match the bridesmaids!! He booked the honeymoon aswell last week!!
if i left it to him we wouldnt have anything done on the day. i told him we are going to a wedding fair on sunday and all he said was as long as what we are going for gets sorted then he will come and he gets back in time to watch tottenham game he will be happy!! xx

hi and welcome, I always find that if you write everything you need to do down in a list helps. once you stary crossing things off you really start to feel a whole lot better.
