thought i'd start one of these diaries :)

so me and h2b have decided to slash the budget of our wedding to 5k. So the first things to be chopped from the wish list were the string quartet, the ridiculously expensive photographer, the car and the real flowers! We've also decided not to have a MOH or best man as it's such a small wedding we don't feel we need help from their supposed duties and there's no point paying to kit them out just for 1 day if we're trying to save money!

I also decided today that i would make my own stationary!! Was something i've always been adamant i would not do as i'm not arty at all! But was getting fed up of trawling through stationary sites and seeing nothing i liked so thought i'd play around on publisher, see what i could do and voila! it's a miracle. they look really good and h2b loves them! I was going to get some save the date magnets made from a shop on the bay but came across 10 do it yourself magnet blanks for £5 so made myself a little save the date design too. The cost of card to print everything on is £2.98 and envelopes for both invites and save the dates £5.84 so in total it's costing me just under £14 to for 7 x StD magnets, 7 x Invites, 7 x guest information slip and 7 x RSVP's :) quotes for professional stationary were coming in at around £60! can you believe it !!

Also found a dress that i really love the look of on C0@5t. Was debating ordering it but by the time i decided the bleedin' thing had sold out in my size!! Luckily there's a store that does the bridal range in the city so will pop along tomorrow and have a ganders. wish me luck!

also found a fab bouquet that matches the design of the invites and the beading on the dress! It's a one off ready to go design tho but have emailed the lady asking about the possibility of making a smaller, matching bouquet (for my nans grave) and a button hole for h2b. Hopefully she gets back to me before someone nabs it!

eeeeeeeek. so exciting. and it's so great that i have somewhere to write it all down :)

so things to do over the next few days:
    - check out the 2 short listed venues, finalise quotes and hopefully book
    - contact registrar if we do book
    - check out the dress
    - hopefully order the flowers
    - order the bits and pieces for the stationary

Ok after going back onto the c0@5t website i discovered that when you click on a size it tells you whether its available online or in store so if its saying unavailable it means its sold out both online and in stores!! so i bought the next size up! eeeeeek. bit of a rash decision but i figured i can return it if i don't like it or if i do like it then contact customer service find out if its ever coming back in stock in my size or if not get it altered at a dress makers :) hooray for late night impulse buying!

The lovely lady from the potential new venue contacted me today :) it's available on both our preferred date and back up date yay! Booked the visit on Saturday. Looked up registrar fees tho and they're £150 more expensive than our old dream venue! Obviously will be saving more by changing venue but jeeesh didn't know the fees varied so much! Also told h2b to keep money aside at pay day to order the flowers :) he says its too early but best to get it all done now so we have more time to save for honeymoon! X

Woop! found an AMAZING photographer who's in budget! Just! Original photographer I wanted was £2k!! But we decided that was too much so budgeted 1500, which is average for the style of photography/editing that i like. We then slashed that £1000. This photographers cheapest package is £945 for disk only. He also requested £50 contribution to accommodation as he's traveling quite far. So, comes in just under £1k woop! :) He does a package for £1195 which includes an album, so if we can cut costs somewhere else or find extra money or can persuade parents haha we can go for that :) eeeeeek. Just hope nobody snaps him up between now and saturday!!

The dress arrived today! can't believe how quick that was :o about 36 hours from ordering to being delivered! It's such good quality as well - for better than what i expected from a high street dress!

Have emailed a couple of dress makers to ask about quotes for alterations. Will need it taken up and also taken in around the hips/waist/under bust. Debating getting rid of the drape back too... hmmm. No idea how much it will cost, but i'm hoping not more than £100. but i really have no idea!!
