    Poached cutlet of chicken on a celeriac puree, braised bath chaps and champ potatoes

    If you have one option...

    I'd avoid fish. People either love it or hate it.

    Pressing of duck with soda bread tweels and micro garlic
    (only because I hate seafood of any kind

    Porchetta of pork with carved fillet and textures of onions and tempura sage and apple mash
    (didn't like what was served with chicken but usually chicken is the safest option followed by pork as some people still have bse issues)

    Peach panacotta, vodka jelly and red fruits

    (Refreshing and light but not suitable for kids)

    veggie
    Linguine of spinach and blush tomato with smoked bean curd & a ricotta and
    Caraway fritter

    (sounds lush)

    Wow, very posh food first of all, but if I were to pick it would be the infant pears, melon and prawns for a startrer, the roast beef for main, and of course the warm chocolate brownie for dessert. You could have the Queen eat with you with that menu, there are some things on there I have never heard of! Like what is braised bath chaps and champ potatoes? Lovely choices for your guests though, lucky people! :) x

    Just a thought why don't you survey your guests and then take the results from that as your choice? At least then it makes it easier to decide which will be the best to serve.

    tbh i havent got a clue what any of this food is ... and i am an ex chef!!

    im not asking my guests for 2 reasons because i dont want them to think its really ponsey and that menu does sound very stuffy (and they prob wouldnt come well my family anyways), plus if we dont tell them them what there potentailly is we dont have the hassle of every body wingeing saying well i dont like that so were just gonna pick a course for each one and a veggie option and then they can either have the meat or the veggie menu, that way there is no argueing but we both just wondered what you guys would go for xx

    i think you should try to get a choice for your guests; i know i'd be a bit gutted if i had my dinner chosen for me! Plus, its hard to know if anybody hates fish, or cant eat red meat .. . . blah blah blah; people are fussy!
    Cant believe the venue issnt offering at least a 2 option choice anyway! fish/meat/veggie mains youd think? right? :S

    If i had to choose, id go for;
    A risotto of buttered corn and broad bean with crisp skinned sea bass
    Porchetta of pork with carved fillet and textures of onions and tempura sage and apple mash
    Warm chocolate brownie with white chocolate mousse and maple syrup
    Veggie;
    Linguine of spinach and blush tomato with smoked bean curd & a ricotta and
    Caraway fritter

    As nice as the salmon sounds [and it does] not everybody likes fish so i'd leave it
    Lush choices though :D Have a nice dayyyy :D <3 x

    the thing is is my venue charges £80pp and to do a choice would mean they will charge more to the point of £100pp as it means more chefs! (already asked and this is what they have said!!)

    what i might do is have a veggie meal and a meat meal that way people could have either meal and decide before they got there?? does that sound ok?

    That sounds good. I'm sending the menu with my invites so the guests can choose between the veggie and main meal as well as giving me the choice for the kids. I will also say if anyone cannot eat the choices for any reason to get in touch as My venue has said they can do something for one or two guests if need be as they can always serve them a meal they do in the main restaurant but that is only for the odd guests not for all.

    It also means when you do the seating plan you can show the staff where the veggies are sitting so they serve the right meal to the right table.

    I think it's quite common to have to pick the menu for your guests. I can't remember a wedding where there was a menu choice for a sit down meal that I've been to. Obviously they did different stuff for kids or people with special dietary requirements, but other than that, everyone got served the same thing.
