Hi everyone, I'm not a frequent starter of posts. Tonight I am baby sitting and using this time to think of potential venues for our wedding of the century. Our budget is limited but is probably better than we expect somewhere between 2 and 10k. Ok I know that sounds like a big range but theoretically we can afford the 10k but we would prefer to save that money to put towards our future than spend it all on one day.
I want to put together a list for h2b and me to go through of local venues to us and contact numbers etc. Is there anyone else who has done a spreadsheet of specifications/availabilities of venues in order to eliminate a few before you started going visiting. If yes or if you can imagine what I am trying to achieve....What would you include in your venue listings???
So far I have "Venue name. Contact name and number. Capacity. Miles from home." Can you think of anymore????

i tried doing this but i just knew when i saw my venue i wanted it!! lol... we looked at other places but they just wernt as nice
We have so many to choose from, and silly me thought I'd found a cheap room that was perfect, a square room with a licence and a kitchen that family/friends could prepare some sarnies and stew in all for under £400, h2b was ok with it but not keen, and then mum went ape saying it was such a cheap bla bla bla and our wedding was to have more class than that! So I am back to the drawing bord!

You can get nice rooms and venues without breaking the bank and also classy. Are you getting married at the venue or in church or a reg office? You will have more scope if you do one of the later two options.

At the moment I have fallen out with the local CoE church. I don't like my local registry office, but apparently they have moved. It's all so up in the air! And I feel like we need to be making these decisions sooner rather than later. I don't particularly like hotels for a venue but my choices are limited for licensed buildings. I really am back at stage 1!

I did this, i got the scottish venue mag, put in a list all those i liked the look of from the pictures ( as i wanted something with character and not a new build) then went down the list , any over the top prices i crossed off, if they couldn't fit in my guests i crossed them of, and i ended up being left with about 5. We went to our first venue and my other half fell in love with it, and so we have booked it and went no where else. Im sure you will find something that suits your needs.

Thanks Jennebel, I had thought of that too, but the way my mum kicked off (from the otherside of the world) was just too much. So I decided to go back to the drawing board. I still may end up with that venue but I may aswell have a few nice days out looking at venues with h2b.
