I just emailed him and asked him if he wanted me to provide him a meal, he emailed back and said he would never dream of asking for a meal and he will sort his own out as he uses the meal as an opportunity for him to eat but also to pop out to have a break

I don't think you include in numbers... Well I hope not in our case anyway because they're my employees for the day techinically not guests, and were paying a package price that includes a lot more than just food for our venue.... Xxx

My photographer had written in to contract that we did not need to provide food for him which was good because it saves the awkward asking. Also I think I would be pretty annoyed if I did have to supply food for him as i'm paying him to be there to do his job, I don't get food provided for me everyday at work. x

If the photographer hasn't specifically said in the contract that they should be provided with a meal I would assume that they are not expecting one. Perhaps you can ask them what they normally do about finding time to have a break and eat.

How do I word asking though ? I think 'provide' sounds really harsh lol, I don't know why...... We had to get a contract specially drafted as she's never been asked for one before ! Food isn't mentioned either way... Xxx

    just put:

    Dear^

I'm just putting together some numbers for the venue on meals and was wondering if you require a meal or not, I'm not sure how this works as I have heard that some photographers request a meal and others don't. if you could let me know as soon as your are able that would be appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,

    ^

Check your contract first. Mine says we do not need to provide a meal but food must be available nearby in the instance they cannot eat their own food on premises. It also states they must be given time to eat at some point, ideally during our meal.

That's nice of you to offer. Generally it's in the contract if they need a meal provided. To be honest I'm surprised it's not that common, especially as many photographers take pictures through their mealtimes.

Might as well offer when it's free with our venue lol.. Plus she gave us such a discounted price on our photography.. Since we booked in May the package we have has doubled in price.. And we only had to pay 50% deposit.. Xxx
