Temple Newsam is a magnificent Tudor-Jacobean country house which dates back to the 1500s. It is steeped in history and grandeur, with museum collections which include beautiful furniture.
At Temple Newsam we pride ourselves on being able to offer one of the UKs best examples of a country house, in over 1500 acres of parkland. We are based just outside of Leeds, making it easily accessible from the M1.
The history of the house includes royal links to the infamous Lord Darnley (husband to Mary Queen of Scots), and is referred to as the 'Hampton Court of the North'. We have collections of fine furniture and art, exquisite silverware, and interior furnishings, including the some of the most expensive wallpaper in the world.
We have three rooms to choose from, all with beautiful original features - The Great Hall, The Dining Room, and The Picture Gallery. Our newest venue, The Picture Gallery, is our impressive rococo-style gallery which offers couples exclusive hire of the house for their ceremony and celebrations.
Temple Newsam is fully licensed for weddings, civil partnerships, and vow renewals.
