    its just that most of them look very 'samey' if you get me? i want some quirky photo's too but surely he would work with us wouldn't he, we have already met him and he does seem really great and a few of my friends have also used him and really rate him, ive put up a link for his facebook page i think he has better photo's on there xx

    right, I've taken a look though, and generally speaking, the overall quiality of his pictures are excellent. Not my style i have to say but that's a personal choice. I am concerned about two things however;
    1/His prices - they're way too cheap - £600+ should be nearer £1500, but there is only him...
    2/ he mentions no back-up equipment, so what if a CF card goes, or a lens gets smashed?
    3/ Has he got the relevant PLI insurance? Most venues wont even allow him on the premises if he fails to provide the appropiate PLI - perhaps that's why his prices are low?

    They are indeed lovely. The man has a really good eye, I'll give him that. My personal tastes aside, my concern is that he has no back up equipment/PLI.

    At the end of the day, the best person to speak to is your photographer!

    He has photographed at my venue before clive so that shouldn't be a problem, he did mention when he came to us that he takes two lots of equipment with him, would that be his back up? he only photographs at weekends as he has another job and to be honest i think he views it more as a hobby, hes very relaxed. xx

    If he has two sets of equipment, then he has back up. Problem number one averted. The next is the issue of PLI (Public Liability Insurance). Being part time and only working weekends, I doubt if he would justify the outlay, but it's vital that you ask him if he's covered. Most venues of any kind insist on a minimum of 10 million.

    And that goes for any outside suppliers!

    OK< so to sum up so far;
    1/His work is excellent - I can see that, and I'm fussy!
    2/He's shot at your venue before - a big plus.
    3/By the sounds of it, he has back-up equipment. Again, a big plus.
    4/PLI!! You MUST check if he has this. if not, your venue may not allow him on the premises, part-time or not.

    PLI PLI PLI ill make sure i ask him face to face then i think that would be better that way i can gauge his reaction. i just didn't want it to be too good to be true with the price and that, i don't think my venue would not allow him they know him quite well xx

    Yours is a funny situation. You say that he's shot at your venue before with, I assume, no issues whatsoever, so either he has PLI and is covered, or he doesn't, and your venue isn't bothered, and he got away with it. Either way, if an accident happens, and he isn't covered, it would be you and H2B to foot the bill if something happens!
