I am considering getting married at St Albans registry office because it looks beautiful inside and out .. and then was trying to decide what to do for the reception .. I have looked at Highfield Park which is £500 to hire for the whole day which is amazing but then with the cost of the marquee etc on top will probably turn out too costly so was considering pubs? .. Is this going to ruin the day? I have always had dreams of a big white wedding and bla bla bla but as I am getting older and have two children I have realised marry the man I love is more important to me than the wedding itself but at the same time I want to have a day to remember

I really hope that makes sense lol .. Advice would be much appreciated ..

Literally cannot wait to decide on and book a venue because its all turning into a major headache :-/ lol x

There are some gorgeous country pubs with beautiful gardens so I don't think a pub reception would ruin your day, in fact I think you'd have a lot more freedom to do the things you want!

Like others have said, you can get some gorgeous places about. What about social clubs? or even hotels. We got a fantastic deal or 3,500 but were paying 4,500 due to extras..

i was the same, I wanted the big shindig etc etc, why not look at local non profit businesses? I'm hiring our local Pavillion for the day, and the night before (and possibly the next morning to clear up) and because we're local we're getting it for.... wait for it.... £80!!!! ok we have to dec it out ourselves but it's such a bargain!! So i would defo hunt around and see what you can find. and at the end of the day it's not the venue that makes the wedding, its the people involved

Village halls are good value, you can even get them lined like a marquee and not too expensive x
