Awww hun I'm really sorry to say but I think your doing all this way way way too early... A lot can change in 6 months let alone 3 years!!!! Yes it's lovely to plan but why dont u jus enjoy being engaged?!
If I did receive an invite with a specific dress code on I would not adhere to it, I understand that might make me look bad but my opinion is that it's bad of the bride and groom to even ask it of their guests but that's just me xxx

Hmmm I agree with millz on this, i don't think it's really fair to tell people what to wear...other than no white or ivory.
I can see we're your going with it, and it's a lovely idea but I can't see many people following it...sorry just giving my opinion

I'm just gonna let them wear what they want in whatever color suits them and compliments there skin tone there figure just want people to be comfy in what they are wearing <3 X

I know in there own clothes in the colour of there choice no forcing my color scheme on them just for Husband n Wife Bridal party groomsmen =D <3 X

ive read a page of posts but my eyes started to go square haha! I wouldnt like to be told to wear a specific colour for a wedding, though i wouldnt mind if it said try to incorporate it if you can, as it then gives the guests the choice, to maybe just add a green or blue brooch/scarf/tie etc.

I'm encouraging fancy dress at mine, but i certainly won't be making it compulsory, the weddign party will be safe, we're all wearing sensible weddingy clothes, if enough people say no, then il reconsider it. by all means, throw your ideas at your friends and fam, you know them better than anyone but dont make it compulsory - even with loads of green and blue myself, id still probably have a grumble as i prefer to shop and hope somthing stands out and tells me i must buy it - rather than for something specific, because as soon as i do that, i cant find bugger all. its like these H&M vouchers i have, if i was skint, there'd be alsorts id want to buy, but because i have them looking at me, theres not a single thing in that shop i want argh!!!

I do agree with the ladies about trying to plan your wedding to the last detail so soon youre going to go into meltdown, especially if you have it all planned in the next 12 months, then you have another 2 years of twiddling your fingers!

Im getting the deposits down for the big stuff over the next 12 months, but everything else, il be starting the srart of next year, thats probably cutting it abit fine for some, as it will be 10 months off, but i dont work long hours or all week, and i really just want to enjoy this year with all the events and other peoples weddings, and then next year is miiiiiiiine :)

I have 6/7 lovely dresses (that cost between £100-£250 each) that I wear for weddings and rotate them depending on who we are with. I would not be happy to be told that I had to go and buy an outfit in a specific color. I wouldn't even be too impressed with being asked to buy accessories in a certain color as I will be spending a fair ammount of money anyway in travel, accomodation, drink and a wedding gift.

I wouldn't like to have a colour code for my guests as such but i like the idea of asking your guests to accessorize accordingly.. how about adding something like this to your invites...

here goes .... To join in our theme in a colourful way, please accessorize with the colours of the day. A little hint of green or flash of blue or why not be bold and where the two!

we are having issues asking people to wear certain colours too... my MIL insists we can NOT ask people to as it is very rude and they may not have anything in that colour...
the way i look at it is we have given 6 months notice to them and the majority of people will buy something new anyway so why cant they buy it in our colours?
We have "suggested" it in the end, because of people (MIL) REFUSING to wear white! (we think all white looks so crisp and clean and we loved it but got told im not coming if i am being told what to wear!) so we suggested pink white lilac or any mix of those. seriously THAT isnt too hard to do is it?????
Also been told I am rude and bossy as i put in the back of the invitations " dress code smart attire please" as one family member turned up to the last wedding in cheap see thru leggings and a batwing jumper!!!!

I say ask people if you want a colour theme but either dont be mad if they turn up in something else, or say dont wear it dont come, depending on if youre a bridezilla or not lmao

Formal wear to me is different to smart.... Smart is my suits that I wear for work in black. Formal is a nice dress and cardi or smart trousers and pretty top. It's personal choice though as people have different thoughts xxx

I know you're talking about guests, but with the groomsmen, we're going to have them wearing shirts, trousers & waistcoats with their shirt sleeves rolled up (there's a pic in my album) & H2B will be wearing a suit so he will stand out more :) xx

I love the poem part I like your idea Siany but I want them all in suits but H2B wear blazer and waist coats and and LauraJo87 your right there will always be one who will get it wrong and I will only be focused on my marrying my fiancee =D ♥ X
