We went to have a look at wedding cars today. A friend of my Stepdad's, who has also done a lot for the charity that we volunteer for, has a 1952 Riley that fits in nicely with our theme. It's an absolutely gorgeous car so we asked my Stepdad to negotiate a price for us.
The deal we've made is that we get the car for free and the owner and his wife attend the wedding. H2B and I had already discussed inviting them anyway, as it seemed unfair to expect him to drive the car and not really get anything in return.
Really chuffed that we've saved ourselves a massive chunk of our budget! :o)

How lucky that you knew someone with the right car. Rely generous of them as well to only ask for an invite to the reception.

thats great news! I reckon I paid about £50 more for my car than i could have got it from elsewhere but I absolutely fell in love with the car we chose and it was in such good condition and had so many beautiful details...plus it was the only one I had actually seen in real life so I decided that £50 was worth paying not to look at anymore cars! plus they chuck in champagne and chocolate and a few other little things...its great when you know people who do stuff wedding related! so many people have finally come in useful haha ;) fil2b is a graphic designer so the invites were a gift from him, my lovely auntie is a calligrapher and my other auntie makes wedding cakes so that was a result as well! xx

I have found that it's not what you know, it's who you know! We got a small discount from our DJ and Photographer aswell :o)
