Nothing to it, they take you in one at a time and ask you the simplest of questions about each other: your birthdays, jobs etc. very simple stuff so don't know if the purpose of that is to make sure its a geniuine wedding rather than immigration issues or something cos anybody cud easily memorise that stuff!! They also need to see proof of ID and proof of address for both of you. It's nothing to b nervous about definitely! x

We did our this week and it was fine. We were seperated and asked a few questions but just simple things like each others date of birth and occupations. Then just asked to see our proof of address and things. Nothing to worry about xx

Hehe, no it was pretty basic stuff like full name, birth date, address. H2B forgot my middle name, so there was a huge pause when he was asked what my full name was!! Course the reason he couldn't remember is coz I don't have one! And he did confirm with me our postcode and telephone number (he's terrible at remembering stuff like that! we've only lived here 3 years - lol)

i can give notice from June 23rd 2011 so gonna call to book appointment before then and try sort it all out so we can go in the week our year starts to make sure it is out of the way. As for which registrar you get depends on the council in your area and what the schedule is for registrars working the date you get married. Don't think you get to choose or meet in advance :) x

Ours took us in one by one and they usually take the bride in first for the simple reason they know all the details better then the men lol. Its nothing hard just like your addresses, dob, names and times of wedding etc. They don't have a go at you if you forget something so don't worry. They are not there to test you and trip you up and its very informal.

Im a bit worried about this too! I ALWAYS get my H2B's birthday wrong! I have no clue what our phone number is LOL Oh and I spell his middle name wrong!

Oh and I have lost my Birth Certificate but have a passport will I still need to obtain a new copy of my BC??

I thnk your passport should suffice, Kinkyemo. I changed my name by deed poll 11 years ago, so mine is pretty worthless as it shows the wrong name now! I just have to show my CoN deed and passport, but I will be taking my BC along too, just so they can see the timeline etc. If in doubt, give the registrar a call and check Hx

Love him, imagine if he said that to the registrar!! We are planning on giving notice next week.

I forgot h2b's job title when we gave notice! In my defence, I never remember. I can describe what he does but not the actual title.

I hated giving notice though- it felt like an interrogation (perhaps I'm sensitive because I'm a minority and I generally get the feeling that they think I'm an illegal immigrant even though I was born and raised here). It completely sucks the fun and romance out of marriage.

im glad it seems more relaxed... should put a few of us at ease but now after seeing the fat shambles wedding maybe it does need to be made harder but again its punishing the legit ones like ourselves.... why do some ppl have to ruin it for others

we were only there for about 20 mins at the most, a quick chat with both of us in the room, h2b then left the room while i was asked questions, h2b then had to answer some questions without me. Had another chat together, handed over or £33.50 each and that was it x

We gave our notice 2 weeks ago, and it was the second time we had to do it...(and pay again) because we changed our venue.
But she didn't need to talk to us seperatly this time as nothing had changed , the time and date are the same it is just the venue.
When we first went to see her, she is actually our neighbour so she knows we have been together forever.......and when we said it was 16 years we had been together she didn't really need to ask very much more! but for the paperwork she needed to ask me where he worked, and his birthday etc....and she asked him the same questions.
