I've just received an invite to an evening reception and the parents of the bride (who have sent it) have enclosed gift registry details. I've known the bride most of my life, we're vaguely related through my aunty's marriage and I know she's on a strict venue capacity so it went without question that I'd be buying them a token gift.

But now I'm wondering if this is the norm. I'm feeling bad enough giving a list to people who have asked what we'd like, do people ask/expect evening guests to turn up with a gift too?
Is anyone here sending gift lists out with their evening invites?

I've never known this happen before hence me asking

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

I'm not asking any of my wedding party for anything. If people want to get us something it is down to them. Any one that asks will be told that high street vouchers would be useful as we can then choose where to spend them but we feel really bad about asking for things from people. We already have two houses full of stuff so our friends know we don't need anything for that. Will leave it as a surprise though.

Oh... Never thought of that... good one for me too... we are having a slimer type of problem... limitied amount to the legal bit so the after party is our main event....

so if its just for an "evening" then I shouldnt put give thing in the invite...?

I was thinking about leaving out all together of both invitiation but then as I know people will want to get something I dont want to end up with a load of diffrent vouchers for randome shops and stuff... oh that sounds so ungratful... but I think you know what I mean....

i think someone else asked yest aswell, we arent having a gift list we are kindly telling people we have our home and everything we need and we might need to upgrade things so if they would like to give anything then we would very kindly accept money towards upgrading :)

im sure lots of ladies will give you their opinion on what their doing xx
