    Hi all

I read a post yesterday about kids and weddings and it got me in a right panic. We want to get married on a Friday and are gonna book it next week. we have about 6 kids who we really want to come as they are nephews and close cousins but I'm worried that it may cause a problem as they should be in school. I know it's my day but I really want them and their parents to come (one is m maid of honor and page boys) but don't want to pay the extra cost for a saturday wedding at my venue. Am i worrying about nothing? couldn't sleep last night thinking about it.

surely its up to their parents if their kids miss one day of school? some parents take their kids out of school for 2 weeks to go on holiday. our wedding is on a friday but as its 2nd sept, h2b's brother is a teacher and he said the schools round here won;t go back till the 5th so we should be ok xx

i was hoping that as weve booked to have the wedding on a friday that the kids wouldnt be able come. im inviting them more out of courtesy than actually wanting them there and also my cousins are teachers and i cant stand them. xx

It mainly comes down to parents choice. Some don't like to take the kids out of school at all, others would happily take them out for weeks on end. The school has to grant permission because it goes on the attendance stats. Also if the kids have exams coming out the school may not be that happy.

And just a point to note is that primary school children are allowed 10 days per year for exceptional circumstances. This would include a wedding. They are just not supposed to have them continuous as parents often confuse for a 2 week holiday. (I'm a primary school teacher) Definitly no need to worry :0) x

Lol Gemman I hope they aren't all at Aston Clinton Primary the school will be empty ;) I'm sure it'll be fine hun but if not why don't you go for half term instead I don't suppose the venue'll change their prices and it might make things easier for everyone. I've taken Soph out of school b4 for a wedding because it was family & they were fine about it xx

Our kids are allowed a number of days out of school without any backlash. These days if necessary need to be booked in advance. Ultimatly the school cannot forbid the kids from having the day off..just needs to be organised properly and as long as they are not having regular 'extra' days off there shouldnt be any issues.

As long as you get a holiday permission slip it should be fine babe. As the girls above have said they are allowed a certain amount of time off per year, you just need to do it in the right way.

Yeah, my date is the same as Pink Alice and had issues surrounding this but it's looking pretty sorted though - some rumours saying the school only start that day or the mon/tues after. Check the holidays first and confirm that its definitely not a holiday as you may be worrying unnecessarily. Also by the sound of things they are family who you are asking - I'm pretty certain they'll come - one day off school won't hurt. :)

I had a letter just last week saying that there would be no more absences authorised.... in other words i cannot take my kids out of school aprt from exceptional circumstances or else we may be liable for a fine and have the school inspector pay a visit!

My response was well you can fuck off........ my daughters have both had 100% attendeance certificates for this past year and if i want to take them out for the odd day... inluding the monday after my wedding then i will.

Annoys the hell out of me so it does os theres LOADS fo kids who are hardly in school and no one says a damned thing.
