So some of you may have seen, we have finally decided on our colours/coordination etc for the invitations as having pocketfold design... just need to work on the insert pattern/design and wording then obviously will get a photo up for your lovely ladies approval!! However, I can probably guess the responses before I even ask the question and that will be 'personal preference' but would love to know what Brides have done and what B2B's are planning on doing regarding evening invitations....
Are you having the same invite as the day guests with different wording or are you having a completely different style invite for the evening guests? I assumed I'd just do postcard style for the evening however they are still going to need directions/rsvp etc for numbers/buffet food so not quite sure what to do? Postcard with paperclipped directions/rsvp or same as day guests just with different wording?
Any advice, hints, tips, etc always welcome!! xx

We're having chequebook style invites, they are exactly the same other than the first page which will have either the day time ceremony information or the evening reception details. Do whatever you think is best though, I don't think it really matters if they are the same or not. My only advice would be to make it clear which part people are invited to as friends of ours had quite confusing invitations and 2 couples turned up at the day time celebrations who were actually only invited to the evening xx

We did basically the same invite for the day and evening guests, with one invitation saying Wedding Invitation and the other Evening Invitation. We included the same directions and information for both guests bar timings etc in the invite itself, however in the wording for the evening we put, please join us for our evening reception to celebrate the marriage of... On our wedding website we do have separate sections for evening and days guests, detailing food etc

We had the exact same invites for full day, reception and evening only guests but deleted the paragraphs on ceremony venue, changed the start times and added the word reception into 'you are invited to the wedding of...'
All mine were postcard though, we just directed people to our wedding website for directions etc

We're having different invites for evening guests so there's no confusion. The day invites will be gatefolds, whereas the evening invites are simply folded cards. They'll have similar designs on the front but the day invites are "fancier" lol xxx

We are having our day invites made, bespoke & in chequebook style To save money, we have bought evening invites from the card shop begining with C £5 for 10 & they are lovely Our thinking was the day guests don't see the evening invite & vice versa so therefore we felt it was an unneccesary added expense. It also makes it very clear which part they are invited to

We are having just the postcard style for the evening invite, but we are lucky as nearly all guests live local so we don't really need directions xx

We're having exactly the same invite for both day and evening but just with different wording and therefore slightly different positioning of the text due to the different info. Choose to do it this way as i'm making them myself and wanted to keep it easier. I was thought thinking that I might change the coloured heart at the top to another colour for the evening just so I can see at a glance which is which. It's green for the day but i'm having just a pastel theme so having a few different colours on the actual day for decoration. x

We are having a pocketfold invite for both but the words for the day time guest will be Mr and Mrs Smith invite ....... and the evening guest will have the parents of Peter and Lorraine invite you......
But apart from that everything else is the same as we only have one venue.
Cant wait until I become Mrs K

Yeh all ours is under the one venue and therefore everyone will need hotel info, and also the evening guests still need to rsvp... they'll still have same design and things just different wording in the insert... don't want them to feel that even though they are evening guests they are any less special or anything like that!! you know what i mean? Just wondered what the 'standard' way of doing it was! x

Ours are completely different. WE are having pocketfolds for the day, and then just standard folded cards for the evening. Both will have the same colours and images just different design. Ours is also all in the one venue, but just saying your invited to evening reception for Helen & Neil, at Hotel, on date and time. RSVP via email/phone etc (obv with a much better wording but u get the jist). xx

If its a deal breaker, then consider postage... If you're sending out dozens of invites by post that are bulky or large, then that'll bump your postage up. I'm making my own & expect to pay more for postage due to the design using a lot more card than is necessary, but I've budgeted for it. It might be worth having fancy ones for the wedding, as close relatives are more likely to keep them as momentoes of the day, whereas if you're only inviting them to the evening, then chances are they're not as close to you, and are less likely to keep them.
CommentAuthorSarahB56
We're keeping costs down and having postcard style for both day and evening; just marking them as "wedding invitation" and "evening invitation" with times on so they can see which it is. Xxx
