We are only paying for wine at the wedding breakfast, and thats it. I always think if u put money behind the bar people take advantage and just stand at the bar all night ordering one drink after another.

we are only paying for a glass of Pimms or orange juice on arrival plus a glass of sparkling wine (I dont like champagne!! lol) for the toasts. Its mainly to save money but also because lots of people are fussy about what they drink and a lot of my H2Bs family dont drink at all so it'd be a waste of money really xx

We are paying for the drinks during the wedding breakfast, putting on a free bar after and a cocktail hour. We are only having 23 guests though as we are getting married abroad and we feel like they deserve it after travelling all that way to celebrate with us!!! If we had married in th UK as we were going to we would have just payed for a basic drinks package including a welcome drink, wine with meal and a champagne toast for speeches. xxx

we are only paying for a drink on arrival, one glass of wine with meal and a drink for toasts. if you think some people dont like/want wine, some will be driving and most blokes just want a pint so after the toast they can get their own :-)

v43 - a goody bag with a small bottle - do you mean you are giving your guests a bottle of alcohol? Does the venue know? I think it's a brilliant idea but they would probably rather your guests would buy their drinks.

We're going to have a couple of drinks on arrival (bellinis, pimms or kir royal), half a bottle each during the meal, and a glass of champers for the toast... We weren't going to, but the venue quoted us a really reasonable price, so we decided to go for it... also, I'm a compulsive pleaser and am already panicking about people not having a good time... I thought if everyone gets drunk at least we'll have a ball :D hehe xx

We've got around 60 adult guests who'll be getting a reception drink (or 2 at a push, think we're going to offer Bucks Fizz, G&T and juice), wine (12 red, 12 rose and 12 white) and champagne (2 cases - just for the toasts). If there's anything left in the budget I'll put it behind the bar, but I don't think there will be much! We're also going to find it tricky as we're marrying and partying in the middle of nowhere in a marquee, so no cash machine or card payments etc.

We having bucks fizz and soft drinks on arrival and one glass of white wine for toasts. If they dont like wine or soft drink they can pay for drinks themselves. We've spent enough money on the entertainment and food lol. plus i know that a few of leigh's family only drink whisky or scotch.

We're paying for 2 welcome drinks, 1/2 bottle of wine per adult and some sparkling wine for toast. Nothing else!! Despite booking local pub for pre-wedding drinks the guests can pay for their own!! If i win lottery between now and wedding then i might consider having a free bar!! x x

They have drinks packages in Australia which has an open bar for the length of the reception but it's different here ... We've got a great deal with our hotel that includes wine during dinner and we're still debating about paying for a round or two of drinks. We were thinking about making drinks vouchers for guests to use but still a bit unsure about doing that. Still early days with the planning :)

We're having drinks and nibbles for our day reception. What we've decided to do is work it out to 2-3 glasses of Pimms each plus soft drinks and maybe get a couple of cases of lager/beer in but that's only because it's in my in-laws garden.
Evening reception we're having in a bar and guests have to pay for their own drinks then.

A few of these people can seriously put alcohol away, if that's what they want to do then it can come out of their own pockets!!
