Hi we recently booked the perfect venue and thought it was great when they told us the DJ was included in the price. BUT the DJ is a drag queen. Now whilst me and my Fiance think it would make a great night's entertainment, we have mixed views from the older generation. For instance my mum doesn't think her and my step dad will stay for much of the evening reception because in her words it 'not your step dad's cup of tea'. All because the DJ is dressed up. Any comments gratefully received

does it really matter? i didnt think i liked that sort of thing then went to funny girls in blackpool and loved it!
explain to your mum that although he is a drag queen he will be playing music and that is it! unless he does other stuff like dance with people? xx

I would actually love it, especially having a few gays/lesbians in my day/evening/family guests that'd be wicked, and as terri says if he only plays your music, and not mix with you people, I don't see why they would be offended. And some of them look very much like a woman, you sometimes can't be 100% sure.

Thanks guys, I think it will be great. The manager did say that he does pick out one person in particular and tends to tease them all night but Its all part of the act. I'm hoping my mum and step dad will try and stay for a little while because it will cost us extra if we have to bring a DJ in from outside the venue just to please them

I can understand that some people dont like something different and my step dad is lovely bless him he will be 72 when i get married. Just hope they will go with the flow and stay for at least til after the first dance

although i would find that a great night out some people out there wouldnt and for there not to be a choice is a bit out of order.
some people might find it distasteful or disrespectfull or just might not aprove at all. For a venue to tell you that you have to have a drag queen is out of order.

I think it sounds brilliant!! After all, I think most people will be fine with it - and tbh he's only going to be playing the music - and if he's their resident DJ he'll be used to 'reading' the crowd so will know to tow the line depending on the age of the guests anyway. I'm jealous now - I love drag queens lol..!!!

Thanks they did give us the choice of using their DJ or getting our own but we think it will be fun and like you say mym as he's the resident DJ he will know how to read the crowd and we can talk to him about how we want the evening to go especially as there will be kids there
