    Gorgeous venue!

I thought last night's episode was a strange one. They both seemed like lovely people but I didn't see much connection between them as a couple. I think though this is because he seemed like a shy guy and probably wasn't comfortable with the cameras etc.

i love the tree house, i would totally have mine somewhere like that if it was not for the occupancy limit, i was so gutted for the bms and bride on there dress front, and then the fact he got her shoes that were to big twice. Don't like the fact that on the new dttb the bms cannot go with him to find dresses/guide him a bit and get dresses that fit/suit.

I've had a thought, I can't find any info on it either.... there was an episode where the couple had extra money on top of the 12k... so what happens if your h2b has already designed and paid for HIS ideal set of rings? Would the show demand that he scrap those rings and get others? What if he refused as HE designed them? and they mean so much to HIM?

Also what if the bride had her dress? Say it was paid for by her parents that are no longer around? Would that have to be scrapped as well?

Surely its the same as having the "extra money"? and should therefore be allowed? I have even tried contacting the show regarding this as my h2b has no interest in the wedding. To my h2b "its just a piece of paper". To me, its so much more than that. Other than designing the rings my h2b has had no input as he thinks its my day rather than our day.

i suppose thats the deal they make when they sign the contract, they are getting a wedding for free. if they really want to do things there way then will have to save like the rest of us. and i don't think the brides are allowed to choose a different one anymore, i think they can have the grooms 2nd choice but not choose a different one completely

not that i would cope if we were on the show, i would miss h2b too much, but at that point i think i may have to hand my dress to someone & have h2b "buy it from them" lol

it still makes me wonder about the wedding rings though. if the groom has designed them himself, would he have to scrap them? at that point if he would i would have him buy some cheap ones, & switch the rings in the boxes so we get our rings anyway lol

This is one of the things that makes me really dislike the show. I stopped watching it because I hated the idea of weddings being spoilt in the name of good TV, and brides having to be completely uninvolved. Weddings should be planned by both people. I'd rather do a wedding on a shoe string than go on TV. Fortunately both sets of parents have money put aside for it so we don't have to worry.

I used to enjoy DTTB. The grooms may not get things exactly right but they did so with the best of intentions/ to make the most of the budget etc. I feel like the last two series particularly though have been about what makes the most shocking TV so I wonder how many of the decisions the grooms are actually making and how many are the production team giving them a list of options and they have to pick the lesser of the evils. For example, the alien wedding. Who in their right mind would believe that their bride would want that for their wedding day unless it's a thing that you've both discussed and are into? On the same episode, the dress was covered in holes yet he had a backup dress? To me, seems like the producers manipulated that for the drama the bride would cause over it.
I wouldn't do the show but if I did I'm sure between applying and hearing that you've been picked you would sit down together and discuss what kind of day you would want ideally and a list of definite do's and do not's which makes me think the BBC have a much bigger hand in planning the wedding than the groom.

Tom generally hates this show for this reason, one of his points being we know each other well enough that there wouldn't be any worries of she'd hate the venue/decor etc, he'd probably cock the dress up, but a dress is a dress to him. He can't understand how a couple can be together and they can get it so wrong, but it is all in the name of entertainment

However, these people sign these contracts knowingly, and I'm entertained, so..... You either deal with the rules and the fact the producers or whoever are gunna interfere for ratings sake or you just don't sign and pay for it yourself

I'm sorry PoPoem. Before myself and my H2B we never missed an episode ( well in the 2 years we have been together ) i couldn't believe it was staged. I think alot of our H2B could do a better job, I personally wouldn't want to go on it. As my other half is really traditional and wouldn't want anything extreme. The more extreme the the idea is the more the producers play on that :( x

I was tempted to go on DTTB, £20,000 yes please! Husband knew what I wanted so the episode would end up being dull and boring. But when I was dress shopping I spoke to the service assistants about the show as they filmed in her shop and she said it's fake. Kind of put me off watching it since.

I watch it to see the brides reaction Why one earth would you go on their and let your H2B "Supposedly take charge" Its TV Entertainment they don't care about your special day or what you want they just want a good TV at any cost
My H2B thinks its stupid he never watches it Me & MIL & SIL watch it for a laugh and is always cringing and cant stand some of their reactions This Tuesday One I wanted to knock her out as she was really annoying But I do think the wedding was very different

But all your hear is If I don't like the dress or venue or shoes" I'm not getting married and they Always say Its better than what I would of planned"

It is a great show to watch and i actually got an application form filled it in but didnt send it off cause i knew that they would want something extreme and we had already booked the venue and a couple of other things i knew i would be safe with my h2b choosing things as we have discussed it and he has the same ideas and likes to me, just a shame the show doesnt let the groom do the things himself, but its still a good watch sometimes cringe worthy aswell lol x

I missed last weeks one but looking forward to tonight's, yes about the one where he chose it and it had holes in it surely the shop owner had to stage this I mean any good bridal shop wouldn't want their image tarnished by someone ESP being filmed buying a dress full of holes?? A girl I knew was on last years in Caerphilly castle and although she had a grump it was her 'ideal dress' she obv had most of her way esp with the castle lol this years one has been ok tbh the one from Abergavenny really peed me off they had their own home, she had an expensive BMW and good job yet they couldn't afford it themselves! Anyway she was a right diva thought she was was quite ungrateful at times I had a giggle though when he choose those flats for her to wear lol!

I have to agree, I'd have been furious too! Not only did he do the exact opposite of what she wanted and made it impossible for the majority of the people closest to her to even be there but I don't believe he had her in mind at all, he seemed to be so obsessed with doing what he felt his dead uncle would have wanted that he just completely forgot about what his bride to be wanted. I think that he has to be most selfish groom on DTTB so far and thats saying something. I actually thought that when he saw the reaction from her family and friends he would change his mind especially as she would have no one to give her away, so when he didn't I was willing her to say 'no, I'm not going'.

In my opinion it is all a scam and done like that purely for entertainment value. If you were going on a show like this, then you would tell him exactly where you would like to get married, what kind of dress to pick etc etc etc before hand. Last night's was the first one from this series I had seen as it kept clashing with another programme.
