Myself and h2b are just looking at honeymoons at the moment, we've decided we can stretch the budget (quite bit) so that we can have our dream honeymoon, one we'd never ever be able to do again..
We've got a price for a 14 night all inclusive trip around the Caribbean Islands on Azura ship which is part of a well known company that sounds like piano? lol..
Now we're wondering if any of you girls have been or know anyone who have been on one of there cruises? not the Caribbean in-particularly but with the actual comapany!
Any feedback would be great as h2b is very keen to click book and I'm panicking slightly!
Thanks Melody & Steve xx

CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
It's just over 3k for the both of us, pretty good price compared to some others we've had. It looks awesome too, was checking out the Itinery, it includes your return flights to and from Barbados as well!
I'm just worried about booking it as I've never known anyone use P&O before

Wow i think we need to talk to them :D Sounds fantastic.
By what i have heard P&O are really good, don't worry, i'm sure it will be fantastic.
It was direct with P&O, I checked other travel agents who use them but they were alot more expensive. I'm not sure if it's cheaper because of the time of year, it's for the 10th November which is brill for myself and h2b as we get married on the 5th November and thats the perfect time of year for weather out there! xx

I used to work on cruise ships (worked on Carnival though) but ALWAYS heard VERY good things about P&O, suzky123 is right - check out the hidden charges, tipping etc that they automatically can include but not bill you for until the end..I'd also check about the drinks situation too, just to make sure that all you're alcohol is included in that...
What's your itinery??
CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
I'm on my mobile at the moment right now so can't check properly but there was an option to pay the service charge/tips up front and it was £125 it just gets added to the whole amount so you don't get that at the end and there's was also option to add a drinks package which included soft drink/water/wine.. We don't drink much alcohol so we'd rather just pay for that as and when we want it but we'd def add the sift drinks package. I'll look into it more tomorrow! xx

we booked direct with P & O too, its just the drinks you need to pay for, and you can tip if you want to, but you dont have too, and if you want to eat in one of the premier restaurants you have to pay a bit extra for those as well but not too much, just depends which restaurant you want to go to, but we plan to only go to the michelen starred indian restaurant that Atchul Kocher runs, but only the once :) x

Hi, me and my partner went on a cruise two years ago it was with royal Caribbean and we left from cape canavral Florida to Haiti, Jamaica, grand cayman and then mexico and it was the best holiday ever! I want to go on another cruise for my honeymoon as it was so amazing. I haven't been on p&o but im sure it will be lovely. You will have a fab time!

Yeah Suzky that is very crafty! I really don't like it when all these little things get added on, it's so cheeky. As if your not paying enough in the first place!
We've decided to hold off booking it and pop into a travel agents and speak to someone properly, h2b seems to think we could end up with other charges and he doesn't like the idea that when they are stopped at ports you have to pay extra for excursions, which I think he's right and is fair enough. Over 3k is alot of money and to pay anything upto 150 quid for a day excursions is pretty crazy!
And I think it worries us both that you have certain times to be back at the ship, what if something happens and you can't get back lol?!?!!
Last night I went to bed thinking "yay we're doing a cruise" and I woke up thinking "hmm Im really not sure"
Shelly if we go we go on the 10th of November I think it is, 5 days after the wedding. Have you found it really easy to sort out and what do you think about paying extra for excursions and stuff? Are you flying to and from Barbados?

we are going on the 29th october, we leave from southampton and then fly back from barbados, excursions are extra but we are not necessarily planning on going on any, we will just do what we want to when we get to each place and are quite happy just to go for walks or sit on the beach, as we will probably never get back to any of the islands that we visit, even if the excursions are included we just want to have a totally chilled out honeymoon just the two of us, it was really easy to book, we even got the exact cabin that we had chosen, just simply cannot wait for it :) x

Ahhh that's really good! I didn't think of just doing our own thing, I just thought you'd have to do the excursions, it's good to know you can just make your own plans. I'm still really keen on it but I've only ever been on all inclusive holidays to hotels which is just simple!! I want exactly what you want for your honeymoon, relaxing, chilled, just the two of us doing what we want. I don't wanna be cheeky but how much have you paid? xx

mrs walker 2b, you dont have to do their excursions, i have never done any of the cruises excursions apart from the swim with dolphins. You have plenty of time in the ports of call and there are always taxis outside of the ports of call which will take you anywhere at more than half the price of the excursion. you can walk to the beaches or even get a taxi to the nicer beaches for around about $10 and dont forget the drinks on board are priced in $ not £ so you will be getting better value for money, an normal beer costs around $3 and a glass of wine @ $5 all you can eat is included and the meals in the normal restaurant is delicious 5* so you never have to eat in the pay for your own ones, i have once but didnt rate it that much, all activities are free on board apart from if you get hair or nails etc done. I class it a fantastic value for money on a cruise, when else are you going to visit all the parts of the world where you are going ???
CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
See I don't know any of this and that's why I asked and I'm very glad I did! I wouldn't have a clue how much drinks cost or that you can taxi's to places I just thought you had to do the excursions, very glad I looked into it. So do you get told what the local beaches are etc so once your at port you can tell the taxi driver you want to go to "so and so" lol thats probably a silly question but I wouldn't have a clue. I'd quite like the idea of asking wedding guests to contribute to honeymoon excursions!

we have upgraded to a better cabin and it worked out to about £3000, are you sure that the 5th november is the day that you would sail as if its the azura, we are on it from the 29th October to the 15th November so do you get on it at one of the Caribbean Islands and join the same cruise as us. Have you been online and looked at all the different things that are on the boat, its amazing, we went to Southampton in November and we managed to get one of the officials let us go into the docks to look at her, she is so big and looked fabulous, there was such a buzz with everyone looking forward to getting aboard it was fantastic. so cannot wait to go but finding it hard to save the rest of the money :) x

you will prob be on the same cruise guys, p&o do the back to back cruises, ie the western and easter caribbean, so ppl can either do a week or 2 weeks, how awesome you could meet up and have a drink. yes there will be places that ppl can tell you where to go, ask the staff on board the ship, they have been there over and over many times. telling you so much cheaper to do that, the last time i went on a cruise was round the med for 2 weeks, my bill came to $800 and that was including some photos i took home from the ship and also my hair do's x0x

we are not planning on spending too much on drinks etc, we just want to have a nice relaxing meal with a couple of glasses of wine and night, and then go and sit on our balcony and just chill out and watch the world go by, and just sit and chill out on a beach and use the swimming pools and all the entertainment on board, the cinema, shows, even the gym, its all included except like ditsywife says the treatments, and if we can afford it we will try it, if not then we will just chill out, we are there to enjoy it not to get drunk every night. Yes looks like you will be joining the same cruise as us, if you do go on it yes we could share a drink together, as we dont go home till the 15th november, hopefully with a bit of a tan :) x

ours is the a124, just checked our shedule and we actually disembark on the 12th not the 15th, i cant count lol, so it looks like we get off and then you get on the ship once we have disembarked, so doesnt look like we will see each other, i did wonder how they would get more passengers onto the ship if it was full, but it looks like you are visiting the same places, except you go to a few more places than we do, its just so exciting :) x

We're definitely going for it now we've had such good feedback and now how things work. We've just spoke to my mum and she thinks it's a great idea to ask for money from guests instead of gifts so we can put it towards paying for it and booking some excursions. How exciting! My advice would be to ask the crew where to go if you don't want to do any excersions - remeber that they're there all the time - week after week, so they know the best places to go!!
yay :D have fun, am excited for you just reading it :D :D I want to cruise the med for my honeymoon...its a toss-up between that an thailand. xxx
CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
Oh we'd def do thailand but we're a bit wimpy and wouldn't wanna travel around on our own lol so we're going in 2013 (if we havent all had kids) with h2b's brother and wife, cousins etc.. so we can all do it together which would be awesome!! But honeymoon really needs to be a once in a life experience and cruising the Caribbean really is for us! MEGA excited. Probably more excited about that than the wedding lol! xx

Hi, we went on caribbean cruise in Oct/Nov last year on the Oceana. It was the best holiday I have had....been to many places including the Maldives and the cruise was just fabulous. You only have to pay tips if you opt for freedom dining, of course its nice to show your appreciation but its up to you how much. Check excursions online, we didnt do any with the cruise liner, we booked them ourselves before we went, including afternoon tea at Reids hotel...28 pound rather than 45 pound with the cruise liner. The food, service and amenities were just amazing, Sam and I get married next year Nov and already looking at what cruise we can book!! We booked with Bolsover (not sure if I can say that...sorry) and saved hundreds on the price P&O wanted to charge. Barter with the taxi firms when you get off the ship, it varies depending if you are willing to walk away and you can get a cheap tour! Gosh im so excited for you.......have fun!!!
Looking 4ward to being Mrs Greaves, proud to call him mine x
