So ive just received the email from photographer in Mexico basically we get our ceremony photos (10-15) free but for extra packages even a basic package we could be looking at upto £1000 for only 50 photos and for £330 we can have a 10min disk which is only made up of photos not footage what a bloody rip and you cant use an outside photographer x

It's incredibly expensive. We're looking at about £900, but we do get a good package with that, including albums for the parents. The basic digital package is £440. The videographer will be separate, but as my H2B has a friend who does it we're hoping to pay less for that.

Elinor I dont think I can bargain on price with these as its the photographer they hire over there and it clearly states no other photographers so we cant even look around for best price either so it looks like we will only be getting the free photos gonna see if fil2b can take camcorder with us x

What a rip off. It sounds like the prices are so high because there is a complete lack of competition. Do any of your guests have a flare for photography? I'd be tempted to ask for their help in getting photos for your day.

That doesn't sound a good deal. We're paying £1350 for everything, including an album, some hard copies of photos and all the photos digitally. And even our package is quite expensive.
We were very lucky - we paid £150 for our photographer for 2 hours. Our friend who is very good at photography then did the rest of the day for us.

Whoa that is insane.
Ours is expensive but we get a really good package for the money we're paying. Master album (rather large), two parent albums, 4 mini albums (all are small versions of the master album), thank you cards, engagement shoot with print, all images from engagement shoot and the full day wedding day coverage on high res images disc, a disc set to music with slide show ...........I think that's it .................. plus he is actually a preferred supplier of our reception venue (we didn't have to used any of their preferred suppliers but we happened to really like him and his packages) and bonus he's shot weddings at the Church we're getting married at too.
What you have been quoted is an awful lot for very little in the package.
Could any family/friends be the official photographer if they are any good?

thanks ladies ive been talking with fil2b and mil2b tonight when I popped over fil2b is looking through the package list now and has offered to pay for us but ive told him im quite happy for the family to take our photos as we get 16 of the ceremony free anyway an dont see the point in wasting hundreds just for a few extra, fil2b is quite good at taking pics and is going to see his brother about videoing it as there is nothing to state we cant do it ourselves xx
