I wonder if any of you can help with my dilema, well obviously, it's my H2B's but he is sticking his head in the sand and does everything last minute!

My H2B wont tell me who is going to be his bestman, not sure if he knows himself. Anyway, he has about 6 options as he has been in the Navy for 25 yrs and has made 'friends for life' kind of friends. The problem is, his stepson is in the running, although he's going to be 19, he categorically will NOT be able to organise stag/speech or be willing to help in any way shape or form! I'm not being mean, I really have never known anyone like him, hes like a 6 yr old in the body of Frank Spencer (for those who remember him!)

Some of the others live 100's of miles away but one really close friend woud be perfect and honoured and do my H2B proud as a bestman.

Now, I know it's his descision, absolutley. But knowing my h2b, he will ask his son out of guilt. I want my stepson to feel important and be a huge part of the day. Cant think how though?

Is it unusual or not the done thing to have more than one BM? That's one thing I might suggest to him x

We're in same situation sort of.. Nicky's eldest will be 16 so too young to be actual best man, so he'll be the best mans assistant/usher and one of our witnesses instead.. His cousin is best man and youngest son is ring bearer.. Hope this helps xxx

Anyone present can be your witness, think they obviously have to be over a certain age, but dunno how old they have to be xxx

My h2b chose a best man who is clueless in the ways of the world, he will just about be able to do a speech and thats about it, so when he chose him he then asked his brother if he would organise the stag do, spoke to his best man to make sure he was ok with that arrangement and its all worked out fine. H2b's brother organised a 4 NIGHT stag do and has sorted t-shirts transport etc and best man has so far sat back and done nothing! So maybe he could still have your stepson as his actual best man, but have one of his friends as a second in command? x

Normally the best man is his best friend rather than his son.... i would maybe point out some other things his son can do instead such as witness, usher or a reading? We picked H2B's bets man together, ultimately it was his choice but he wanted me to be happy too. We picked someone who is his best friend but someone who is a good support and will be happy to organise stag do, run around doing things on morning of the wedding and generally be a good support, can his son do all this? xxx

My h2b has three adult best men and his son, who will be 15 at the time. He's asked his son to be the ring bearer (well, have the rings in his pocket for a few minutes then hand them over), his brother to do the best man speech, one mate to organise the stag do (and run around on the morning of the wedding) and another mate to be the master of ceremonies on the day (to announce the arrival of the bride, call out which groups are needed for the photos, announce when the buffet is ready etc...).
We'll probably get my young nephew to 'be in charge' of handing out confetti or some other simple task, and my brother to do the CD player.
We still haven't picked witnesses yet, so there are always roles to find for people.
