Yep but they did say that for a full alterations package it'll be 180 quid, no more than that but most likely to be less which I don't really mind. My aunt is a seamstress and has her own shop but I'm just worried if I take it else where and something goes wrong, thats it then, berketex wont do anything, if they mess up they have to do something about it lol

Depends really - i bought mine before i got my dress. Depends what kind of style you go for. I bought an ivory pearl tiara and i was lucky my dress is ivory and suits the style of my tiara. They don't seem to increase their prices much so if you haven't been dress shopping yet then i advise you do. Berketex were brilliant when i got mine and my mum is paying it bit by bit each month so that it is easier to manage the price over a longer period of time! x

PS you can always get your tiara after going dress shopping when you know the style you want even if you don't buy one there and then!
Also once you have the tiara you can buy other jewellery to match that style. in my albums you'll see i have pearl earrings and necklace in ivory i bought to match my tiara which looks perfect with my dress xxx

I saw that too when I went to try on my dress yesterday with my shoes. I paid £180 for mine with my dress so it's a pretty good idea, wish I'd bought my dress whilst it was on!

Of course, I know some women who have had a lovely experience but I really didn't and I'd hate anyone to go through the stress I did with my wedding dress. Its a shame they have such beautiful dresses that you can't get in other shops!

Omg that is awful! Sounds to me like they have conned you into paying for alterations and just completely lied to you! I can't believe what they did to you i would be so annoyed. I hope you get some compensation for the way they were with you and apologize. I don't think i will be going there now i am thinking of going to a few places and asking how much alterations are first

It did look amazing, I felt like a princess in it and after everything I went through for it I was so glad I still loved it so much. The only issue I have looking at photos is you can see where the boning ends in some pictures and it really annoys me and thats only happened because of all the material that had to be taken off the waist!

I am not paying for alterations there. I found the original woman who used to do a fab job there but left after she was told off for treating the dresses like porches. Her response 'well you charge porshe prices' So she is going to do it and she has shown me examples of her work.... amazing. She had a filthy sample dress and after she was done it looked like it was brand new and not worn once. She also knows the dresses as she has done them loads of times before. They dont take them in anymore and just take them up .... not worth 180 quid. Melody is this the only prob you had or were there others... I am worried now.

My cousin had loads of problems the worst being they lost her dress and when they finally admitted that they didn't know where it was they asked HER if she had a backup plan!!!!!Because of course everyone has a backup plan in case their wedding dress disappears from the wedding shop! The dress turned up finally with 3 working days to go until the wedding.At this point she had had no alterations done and when she tried the dress on they had ordered it too big.They then started being really funny about when the seamstress could be available etc as though my it was my cousins fault.After what she went through ,despite the fact she looked stunning on her big day i would not even step foot in there!

I feel really bad slating them as I know loads of people that have had good experiences, I just would hate for anyone to have the same experience as me and I know I'm not the only one to have this, I'm certainly not the only one to have issues with the sizing anyway

Well I know that most of the girls i have spoken to have had excellent service and i did myself aswell, I know a lot of girls said that any issues they did have, head office sorted it out straight away and were really proffessional. I look forward to getting my dress from them anyway! :)

Ive been into our one about 3 times now as two dresses i like are in there, both times the ladies (different ones each time)were fantastic really welcoming and didnt mind that I just wanted to show my sister the two finalists!
Like everything tho it depends where you are as I have heard bad stories about some ladies in different areas but go for it hunni if your ONE is in there but you dont like the ladies then go to another one, dont sacafice your dress because of shocking sales ppl or you'll regret it

Ive just ordered my dress from the bristol store and have my fingers crossed after all melody's problems with them. I have suggested my wedding is a month earlier than it actually is just in case! So far though I have had no problems and they have been lovely to me- letting my bridesmaid try on her dress (even though we didn't buy it from them) and having previously tried on a different dress three times to decide that if it had taken me that many tries it couldn't be the one! Yesterday I received a swatch of the fabric through the post- which I wasn't really expecting and it really brightened my day. x

Yeah I am a bristol bride like Melody and I am getting my dress from Berketex but not in the same branch. I am getting mine from their Debenhams store and the ladies in there have been really helpful and accommodating. They even offered to check the size ordered with head office when i said i was worried i had put on weight since i first tried it on.
I think each case has to be treated individually because no matter what shop you go to there is good and bad service everywhere. Just treat them with caution and keep in contact at all times. That way you cannot have any doubts as to what is going on and at the earliest stage if there appears to be an issue you can get on it straight away.
