I have no idea what cat to put this under so sorry mods if its the wrong one..

Anyway I was wondering if any of you brides have any recommendations for beauty treatments I should try in the lead up to the big day?
I have really sensitive skin, redness and suffer with spots, thanks to my hormone in-balance! urgh. I've been using all the freederm stuff but it doesn't seem to be making any difference and its really expensive! And the same with shower gel, most shower gels I use cause problems with my skin and I either get very dry skin or spots and I don't want that on my wedding day! Do you girls suffer with this and use anything inparticular?

have you tried Oilatum? Its not on the cheap side but I swear by it and I've tried all sorts over the years, MIL2B suggested it last year and my skin has been fine ever since. You can get soap, shampoo, shower gel, and stuff to put in the bath as far as I know (its what I have seen and used anyway) xx

I've seen a couple of the products in Boots, or my local chemist can order it in for me, I think your best bet is to look around online (H2B got my first lot from amazon) xx

You can get some of the stuff on prescription too, but, according to my doctors they don't have all the oilatum products on their "allowed to pescribe" list

Can you use that green base make up? Can't remember what it is called but it is meant to be great at getting rid of redness and purple bags etc. I would say that if you are going to try anything try them now and not later on as you don't want to mess with your skin too near to the big day. Once you find something that doesn't upset your skin then stick to it. I don't think anything will really get rid of the spots if it is something that you suffer from because of hormones but the photographer can photoshop out anything nasty so don't worry too much about the photos.

E45 doesnt work for me, everyone I know swears by it but when I use it, its either irritates or I have a break out! I was given alot of creams by my GP but that was just for the affected area. I need something that will actually stop it happening or atleast control it! So I will def give this oilatum a go! Thanks xx

I was told aswell not to have the bath water too hot and not to stay in too long. Hopefully you'll get results almost immediately with oilatum xx

Tea tree oil products are good for spots and if you suffer really badly get your GP to refer you to a dermatologist and they can prescribe tablets that get rid of them and they don't come back...downside is they really dry your skin out but they do prescribe emollients etc and you must not get pregnant whilst on them.x

I'd be really careful going for a facial or anything like that too close the wedding, you don't want anything that'll set your skin off hun xx

Make up is probably the last thing on your mind, but bare minerals is excellent for redness and sensitive skin and it's really natural so shouldn't irritate you

Hi have dermatitus on my hands and im praying by the wedding it would of cleared up. I have to use steroid cream but cant use this all the time so have to have breaks. As soon as i have that break it comes back. I use a lotion called dermol which u can also use instead of shower gel or soap. Its a really good moisturiser. Speak to your doc hun, they will be able to give u something. I just use simple shower cream, has no colour or fragrence.

oilitum woeks wonders. but if u keep getting spots, my mum used to buy an aloe vera plant and break off one of the stem/leaves at a time, stick it in fridge in cling film then in mornin i'd use the inside of stem for my face wash. cleared my skin well. now i use dove bar soap tho cos it good on my face xxx

I suffer with eczema too and have to be really careful what products I use. I don't usually wear makeup and I am really worried I will have a reaction on my wedding day when I do wear it! I only wash my face with warm water and moisturise with simple moisturiser which I find is good. Recently my eczema has flared up really badly on my hands and right arm, it has been driving me crazy and I've woken myself up most nights scratching :-(
I went to the GP last week and she has prescribed hydromol cream to use as needed during the day. It's really greasy so I have to wear cotton gloves after I apply it or I get it all over everything! She also prescribed hydromol bath and shower emollient which is very similar to oilatum i think. Neutrogena t-gel shampoo is good for washing your hair. I have an appt with the dermatologist this Thursday, and guess what - typical, it's starting to clear up!! Can anyone recommend a good brand of makeup for sensitive skin as I would be really grateful for any advice? Thank you xx

Thank you, it's getting better now I have an appt to see the dermatologist lol. It tends to flare up when I am stressed so I hope it will be ok on my wedding day! I will look out for bare minerals - not heard of it before. Xx
