After lots of tooing and frooing we have decided we would love to go to hawaii for honeymoon.
Has anyone been who could give some advice on best islands to visit or who they booked with. I am hoping we can afford to go for 2 weeks but we will have to see how the budget stretches!!!
Any help would be appreciated
:-)

we looked in to it but the flights are really long you have to go for two weeks because of the flights being so long you might have to stop off for a few days in somewhere like vagas. thats what we were told anyway i would ask a travel rep about it though x x x

Hm, if you're trying to do this on a budget, go to Oahu. No trip to Hawaii is going to be cheap because the flights will be expensive, but there are more affordable hotels on Oahu and things are a bit closer together. Big Island and Maui are also ok-ish for that, but a bit more touristy and hence more expensive. The other islands are I think for idyllic, and hence only have a few hotels each, all of which are very very pricey. Hope that helps...we really want to go to Hawaii too for our honeymoon but just don't think we can afford it anytime soon! Good luck x

Now here's something I happen to know A LOT about! it was always my dream to go to Hawaii. Myself and Hubby to be went there last year just after he'd come back from Afghanistan. We had a bit of money saved and he needed a chance to relax. I have lots of information for you. You cannot pick a better place to honeymoon :)
We went to Oahu for two weeks and actually got a great deal from Thompson. You should pop in and see them, they can usually find you a reasonable price. We were willing to pay about £2,000-£2,500 for ours but only ended up shelling out about £1,750 AND we went for TWO WEEKS in FOUR STAR accommodation with an ocean view, right on the beach in Waikiki (The Hyatt Regency). If you're not fussy about your hotel you can pay a lot less than we did. The further back from the beach you go, the cheaper it is. However, EVERYTHING in Hawaii is expensive, especially food and drink so keep an eye on your finances and you should pay for things on a credit card, it's safer and cash payments caused us problems in some places. On the way, we stopped for a few hours in LAX, which gave us some time to have a walk around, eat something and chill.(Although the other half popped outside for a ciggie and couldn't get back in...his passport was in my bag!) On the way back we stopped in San Fransisco. The flights are Long, i won't lie. The first is about ten hours to the USA, then another four to Hawaii. But it's so worth it. For a honeymoon i would definitely recommend Oahu. There is just SO much to do and it is truly beautiful. The beach at the Hilton Hotel resort is gorgeous, open to the public and isn't usually that crowded. The locals are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet and are always offering tips and advice to tourists (there are MILLIONS of Chinese and Japanese tourists there... I don't know why!), The Hawaiian and Samoan people LOVE the English too, our accents seemed to amaze them lol However, if your the more reserved kind, as us English as a race tend to be, you may find some of the excitable and interactive tour guides a little intimidating. But you don't have to get involved. We found we were able to slink off on our own and just be together. There are many night time activities such as luau's, which are big parties on the beach with food and Hawaiian dancing. You get to see the Sunset and drink exotic cocktails etc these are really fun and the more you shop around Oahu's streets for tourist deals the better off you'll be. Collect as many leaflets as you can and always read the small print. We also did a submarine tour which was amazing and something neither of us had ever done. You get so see all the colourful Hawaiian fishies and the fake coral reef the university of Hawaii has placed there to preserve the marine life. You must go to see the USS Arizona memorial and do the touristy thing there. The atomsphere there is quite surreal as you can still see the oil coming out of the sunken ship and it's quite a peaceful place. Oh, and of course, the Diamond Head Volcano. My god do you need stamina and a truck load of water...but the view....spectacular. As you'll be on a honeymoon, you will get offered free bits and bobs and extras. We found ourselves telling the occasional white lie and saying we were newly weds, we ended up with free champagne one night. You will never be stuck for things to do and Hawaii is definitley one of the most romantic places on earth. It is paradise after all. But don't forget it is also a city and can get busy but there are always quiet spots to be had if you look hard enough. I have many pictures on my facebook. If you'd like to look let me know and i'll give you my Details. Happy Planning :) xXx

We really want to go and have found a beautiful hotel on Maui, but read it's like $20 for a breakfast. I'm assuming a full meal out would be around $200/250 then?
Anyone been to Maui? x

you need to look out for the Buffet style places where they do all you can eat brekkies for $10 .... as for dinner in the evening this can vary greatly , we stayed on Oahu and had meals from $30 each right up to $200 each at a wonderful resturant called Nicks. but you have to rememeber that alot of food has to be flown into hawaii pushing the cost up..
This is not a destination if you are on a strict budget
We've budgeted around £5,000 for the honeymoon for flights, hotel and spending money. $ to the £ is currently 1.60, so we were thinking we'd need about an average of £200 a day, or $320 a day.
Which hotels have you stayed at, Lala? There are mixed reviews about most of them but the worst reviews seem to be from Japanese tourists - are they being extra-picky? Is Oahu better than Maui? Should we go for 10 days or two weeks?
Confused!!!

the first time we went we stayed at the pagoda in honalulu because it is set back it was much cheaper , we ate in the floating resturant each morninf and with the size of brekkie you didnt need anything till dinner !!
the second time we stayed in the New otani which is right on the beach ... it is a japanese run hotel used by business men so is a reall high standard
we went for 10 days each time and that was enough ...We only stayed on Oahu but thats bc of course you have waikiki beach right there. i have just had friends come back from thier honeymoon and i sent them with a list ofthings to do lol
What time of year did you go? Sorry for all the questions! I'd love to see the list lol!

We booked ours with Thomas Cook back in may. we have 3 nights in new york and 6 nights at the hilton in waikiki. only come to £3950. we did look at using virgin, but their prices were soo much more. im not sur if they still have the offer but thomas cook did have a £200 off any overseas package for 2012. i think u may have to enquire. but they were really helpful for me as well.
