Just looked at your earlier post Amanda; nearly a grand for such a short trip is ridiculous; what was the quote for? - A 24ct gold diamond encrusted Bentley? lol

Yeah definitely shop around; I'm sure you can get cars for so much cheaper; I mean look at everything Donna gets for £550! I'm staying at the hotel the night before to save expense on cars; plus in my opinion it is easier for me to have everything in the same place. :)

    Hey im getting married 27,06,2015
We have book our ceremony already
and got invites on the way I have all the little bits done
already we are on a tight budget so
our idea was to get all the small bits out the way

we have ordered our wedding rings and they are being made
for us there having personal effects put on them.
    enough about me lol.

I agree shop around for cars I havent decided yet but iv seen a few
around my area for 300 one for groom and best man and same for
    bridesmaids and mum.
A grand is a little bit much tbh but I guess it depends on the
car your having and if they charge for distance.

Im thinking the same to get ready at a hotel but it wouldnt make to
much sence as im having a registry office dont want to pay loads for one night lol.
I live in the middle of southampton it can get costly.
I hope your planning is going well though.
What do you have on ideas and what do you have booked if anything.
    Congratulations lucie.

Have you looked into executive cars rather then wedding cars, there much cheaper.
Our cars are expensive at £780 but that's because the only cars we both like are vintage rolls Royce's, for that price we get 2 matching cars. They will pick the men up 1st & drop them off, back for me & the girls, take us onto our reception after the church ceremony, hang around for some pics & collect us at the end of the night.
We were quoted £550 for 2 Daimlers instead (same company & journey) so shows how much the price varies between cars.

Might just be my mum coming but if my Auntie can get someone to cover at the office she will be coming as well. I've told her any others I book I'll book for after the office is closed, but I have some appointments already booked for the 22nd when we have our engagement party. One of them is after the office will have closed, only thing is I'm already going with my mum and two bridesmaids that day.... do you think 4 people is too much, or do you think since I'll already have 3 it won't really matter.

If you don't have that much to spend, look at silk/foam flowers , they are gorgeous, very realistic and a fraction of the price, bm posies for £15.50 each .

Lana we could get them with our budget but I'm not sure I want to spend around £400 on flowers that will die soon after.
I think I'm going to look into the diy artificial bouquets abit more, at least they will last forever.

Hello ladies, you've got me to contend with now.... We've been able to move our wedding up by 7 months and fingers crossed if our venues have our date free, we will be getting married on 5th September 2015!!! Eek... It's VERY terrifying to say 'I'm getting married next year' *gulps fiercely* what have you all got booked at this stage? Taking such a big jump makes me realize we should have more sorted. We have Dee's dress, my ring, venues sorted (hopefully), photographer and not sure what else until I look! xx

I was thinking artificial at first Keira, but the one's I had seen which looked how I wanted I was being quoted the same as a florist I saw at a wedding fair... which was the £80 for my bouquet (I've even seen some artificial for more then that) my friend who's training to be a wedding planner says that it's actually quite a good price for a bridal bouquet. I'm looking at some other florists closer by as that one is in the next city on from me, so quite a trek for consultations ect. but if I don't find one local we will go there.

I've been sold on fresh for a number of reasons, I saw a lady who will press them after the wedding-which I know is another cost but most of that comes after the wedding rather then before, so that's a bonus, also the smell of fresh flowers is nice to have on the day, plus I haven't had a decent quote for artificial.

Catherine, how exciting. When will you find out if the venue have your date free?

    So far we have booked

    -Church
    -Venue
    -Cake
    -Photographer
    -Suits
    -Transport
-Venue dressing (half done by one of my bridesmaids, half by a company)
    -Entertainment

So quite a lot, but we still have loads to do and I'm sure you'll soon catch up.
I only started planning in Jan

I'm going to see if there's any shops local to me that sell artificial flowers, so that I can look at the quality. I will also pick the flowers I want & make up a rough bouquet so that I have a rough guide price, as they usually charge per stem.
If they look realistic & the price is good then I will definately go down the diy route, I want to put my bouquet on my h2bs nan & grandads grave after.

Congratulations on the date change Catherine, so far we have booked our church, reception venue, transport, insurance, dj & photobooth (got sold on the idea at a wedding fair & impulse bought it!! Oops). My dad is sorting the catering & cake so I'll leave him to it.

I'm currently getting quotes on photographers, flowers & hair/makeup, ideally we want to book the photographer asap, the rest can wait.

Also need to book an appointment for h2b to try on suits, we have been offered a really good deal so want to book this asap, but h2b has been working everyday so not had a chance yet.

Oh of course we will :)
Well.... Not everyone can do our favourite date of 5th Sept so it's trying to find out what's the best fit which is annoying. Oh doesn't like August but at the end of the day, we are quite limited and need to get it sorted. I like 15th August, we both like 5th Sept but essentially it needs to be August/September as we can't do 26th Sept onwards which is annoying as that's our favourite :( xx

Ok.... Gave the cathedral a call about this and he's said that it shouldn't be a problem with either 15th August or 5th Sept except that there are grad ceremonies on the 3rd and 4th so we now just have to wait until the canon pastor is back tomorrow to find out if we can move it, after which it is just a case of going to the diary meeting and getting it confirmed eek!! xx

Ive had a few quotes which I personally think are over priced, but my OH had an idea of renting a luxury car and getting a friend to drive. We looked into this and for a car we would want is only £105 for 24 hour hire. So that's our transport sorted :-)

He was really noce an put us at ease managed to bring our Izzy who was being all shy out of her shell.

He quoted £600 for whole day from 2 hrs before ceremony to first dance (with 2 photographers) with all pictures edited and on a disk with all the copyrights.

    Is that a good price?

MrsMalin2B It's crazy what goes through our heads isn't it, not a wedding related one but my friends are coming up for our engagement party in a couple of weeks and they rang the other day asking if they'd be okay to come a day early and if their baby could stop that night as well, I was so excited and said yes. Anyway, that night in my dream I panicked as I'd realised I hadn't asked my mum and her partner if it was okay, so I asked and they said no, I got really upset and cried and was thinking they have to come I really want to see her and how do I tell my friend that she can't now I've already said they can.... then also in my dream I realised that we have our own house and it's nothing to do with my mum, so I got really angry with her and thought stuff her they're coming anyway, I woke up not really mad but still feeling a bit hostile towards my mum until I remembered it was just a dream.

That sounds like a good price to me Lana, I've seen someone quote 900 for days coverage with a USB with all images on.

    Dress shopping tomorrow :D

Super excited got my first Bridal store appointment on Monday, back in my home town, as my aunties are visiting my mum - seemed like a perfect excuse to get started!! Pretty set on what style I want and contacted an amazing designer in Glasgow to ask when I should come visit, however I feel that you can't really know what you want until you know what your options are, and everyone says that you never know till you try them on!
Sent an email to the council early in the week to see if we can book a registrar, because when I spoke to them previously they said 'no more than 12 months before', but I'm not sure if that is just for the marriage license. Haven't heard back yet but feel like I can't start booking things and shaping the day around an event that I can't guarantee will happen on that date! A bit frustrating because I just want to set it in stone now that we've decided!
Fun filled few days ahead catching up with friends and family :) made even better by the fact that Iv taken Monday & Tuesday off work - Wooohoo for long weekends!!

Average is probably about the same for my area as Lana's as well hun, but shop around, I've found someone who will do my hair for 35 and bridesmaids the same, make-up I think is the same but 25 for bridesmaids, same for my mum, mums hair will be 25 to 35 depending on what she decides she wants. And I've seen their work and they're really good.

It's worth asking some other suppliers for advice as well as they know who is reliable

Yay!!!!! I've asked in the other thread, but I'm going to ask again..... when do you try it on again?

    I think I've found mine too :)

I thought I'd found one in the first shop, but I only like one I tried on, the rest looked horrible on me :( but that one did look really nice and there was a nice veil that went with it too.... so when I went to the next shop I didn't expect to like any of the dresses, but everyone I tried on was lovely.... one in particular :D

So I'm going to one more shop in two weeks, then back to that shop to try on my favourite and my second favourite to see if I still feel the same and if I do, then my deposit will be going down ;)

Not sure when I'll go back, sometime in the Summer probably once I have the deposit money!! Ooooo, any pics of it or the name of it so we can go and have a scooch at it?

I tried loads on but some looked utterly ridiculous with one I didn't even come out of the cubicle as we both agreed it looked horrendous! You're basically doing the same as me really - letting the dust settle and then go back to see if you still love it before putting money down! I'm so excited as I never thought I'd love something so much. It was exactly the right shape but completely different material. The lace in particular looks very heavy in person but on me and also when you see it in person, it really compliments me and my skin tone :) I'm going shopping next Friday but I have a feeling that I will still come back to this one.....

    Eeeeeek Donna dress shopping exciting
We had our cake sampling and are now waiting on some ideas from the cake lady who is going to put some ideas together for us as she's really creative and we don't really want a traditional cake so see what she comes up with :-)
I was meant to be booking my chair covers and swagging this week but I was ill and had to cancel until the 31st march :-(

What kind of cake do you want ideally Laura? How are you feeling now? xx
