The Great House

We got married at The Great House in December 2024 and the day was PERFECT! This beautiful hotel provided us with the perfect backdrop to our special day and accommodated all of our needs for our Winter wedding. The one function suite provided us with the ceremony room, then with a quick change was our dining hall for our wedding breakfast and then quickly turned around again for the evening party. The room is so classic and stylish, we didn't feel the need to decorate it, other than providing a few lanterns/candles for the tables. No flowers or greenery (which saved us a small fortune), although we were lucky enough to have a Christmas tree and garlands in the room, provided by the venue.

Our planning stages were managed with enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the years planning and nothing felt too much trouble. We always received quick responses to any queries and the events team who managed the day and evening were also amazing. Again, nothing felt like too much trouble.

I stayed at the hotel for two nights and this was also a delight. The room was very well equipped with everything you need (kettle, iron, toiletries, robes etc), including lovely little touches like a full size fridge, fresh milk, complimentary water etc . Our room even had an old record player, which we really enjoyed playing. We felt really well looked after and the evening in the Coppa Club the night before the wedding was also really lovely too. Breakfast, which can be included with the room bookings, was also a highlight for us and everyone who stayed for the wedding.

Special mention to Charlie in the wedding team, who helped plan the day and then to Claire in the events team, who managed the day for us. It really was the most special day and I cannot thank you enough (especially Claire, who looked after my very nervous husband on the day and I will be forever grateful).

From start to finish The Great House were amazing. Everything was organised perfectly and the day went better than we ever imagined. The food was impeccable, everything cooked to perfection.
The venue is set in a gorgeous location and we fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. It definitely exceeded our expectations on the wedding day and we only have the Wedding Planners and all the staff that worked during our wedding to thank for that.
I would recommend the Great House to anyone. Simply stunning!

Corrina helped us plan the wedding, she was highly organised and efficient and responded quickly to numerous emails. She was also very flexible to our specific requirements and I felt at ease on the day confident in the knowledge that everything would go to plan.
All the guests commented on how delicious the food was and how beautiful the venue was. The garden gave us the space to relax and enjoy the activities we had arranged for ourselves and the children, and the bar next to the Ferryman's suite doubled up as the crèche which worked perfectly for us.
So get booking because it really will make a fantastic venue for you!

Corrina gave a very good impression, she was very helpful and enthusiastic throughout the organisation of the event. On the day, guests commented on the high quality of the food being served. The Event manager on the day was very committed in ensuring an excellent service was delivered by his staff. The staff without exception were friendly and genuinely wanted us to have the best day ever. Many guests commented on how welcoming they were.

Both Kevin & I were absolutely delighted with our day on the 28th May 2017 from start to finish.

We would like to pay special thanks to the GH Team and in particular Corrina who managed to alleviate our fears from the beginning, she was accommodating in everyway even though as an 'older bride & groom' who had pre-set ideas, which I am sure gave her some nightmares at times, ensured all went smoothly, came up with some great ideas which just worked! She responded to my questions in a timely manner and all in all went beyond our expectations! A wonderful lady.

The Events Manager was superb in every way. He was attentive while remaining discreet. Made us feel special and nothing seemed too much trouble. A superstar! Even my guests commentated saying he was a lovely kind man, very much a professional.

Ollie, a great character, from both behind the bar to operating the music system. A truly friendly and likeable chap!

The waiting staff, who were quiet, unobtrusive and professional.

Our bedroom was fantastic with beautiful views and a lovely touches.

The Events Team you have in place are a great credit to your company and we would not hesitate in recommending the Great House for any forthcoming events!

We want to say a massive thank you to your team in allowing us the space and creative freedom to say yes to every crazy idea that I came up with for our wedding. Guests are still talking about it, saying it is the best wedding they have ever gone to
Corrina has been such an amazing liaison for the Great House Lodge. Communication has been outstanding. Her confidence in what the Great Lodge could offer made the planning process seamless and her connections with those in the local area helped extremely. As soon as I said the reception venue, they instantly knew Corrina and made that stressful situation flow with ease. Her assistance on arranging the helicopter landing was second to none.
Ollie’s assistance negotiating the set-up on the day before was phenomenal. His laid back but pro-active nature was just the right combination my “wedding team” needed. He allowed us to get what we needed done, answer questions clearly and anything that we needed he had already provided it before we had even asked. He was spot on with his knowledge of the resources the Lodge had to offer especially when an idea didn’t actually execute in practicality, he would have a solution.
The Event Manager ran a smooth ship with the waiting staff. Timings were executed to a tee, nobody complained about waiting for dinner. If anything, complements to the chef. He was able to provide a starter alternative to a fussy vegetarian with little hesitation which turned her frown, upside down.
You guys deserve the biggest thanks. The Great House Lodge has provided us with the greatest gift and that is OUTSTANDING MEMORIES of our wedding day!! The team went above and beyond our expectations and for that we say... Thank you!

Your team were completely amazing! Everything went so well. With all of the elements we'd planned for the day I'm sure it was pretty complicated for the team and that there were lots of firsts for them in there in terms of planning but it was amazing.
The staff were totally brilliant. The coordination was fantastic, such professional and helpful attitudes and everyone had a smile on their face despite the 30degree heat! We never needed to remind anyone of anything, they were already on top of every detail.
The Lamb - what can we say!!! As Jonathan has said to me about seven times since Saturday - how the chef managed to get around 80 portions of perfect pink lamb out of the kitchen like that we will never know. Amazing and the guests raved about the food.
The breakfast on Sunday was superb. The spread was even better than we expected and it gave everyone the time to regroup, remember the day and say goodbye properly. Again the team, despite the late night, were on top of every detail.
The hog roast and boat trips went down a treat, everyone raved about them in fact all our guests repeatedly said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to.

Thank you so much, and I can assure you we and all our guests absolutely loved the whole experience at Great House Lodge, from start to finish everything was perfect, I don’t think we would have changed anything, the lodge was immaculate, the table layout, service and food. We were very confident in your team.

I would like to pay special attention to Corrina, Ami and Ollie who were so good from start to finish! You made our day very smooth and coordinated, and were there to help at all times, and of course also the service (food/bar) staff who were impeccable and very polite and friendly.

Overall - the setup of the lodge was great, it worked perfectly for us, with plenty of space for our guests to move around and talk to each other as well as have a dance later on, the outside space was great.

The food was really good, I remember how so many people were saying how good the food was, how well it was cooked and tasted, even Marianna and I realised it was even better than the menu tasting.

We loved the Riverview suite room, it is stunning. Overall the whole experience was magical, we look forward to coming back soon and seeing the staff and expressing our thanks personally.

We are back from our Honeymoon, which was wonderful, and wanted to write to you to say a huge thank you for everything you did for us to make our wedding at The Great House a success.

Your planning and advice was excellent, and your team were great on the day. Kate and her staff were brilliant! She kept us calm before the ceremony and kept us fully informed on what was happening. She and the team looked after us so well throughout the afternoon.

The Singing Waiters Masters were a hit! Thank you for keeping it a secret. Our guests (and I hope your staff) thoroughly enjoyed their performance.

All in all a very successful wedding at your lovely location.
