Down Hall is a luxury wedding venue in Essex. Located near Hatfield Heath, nestled in 110 acres of woodland parkland and landscaped gardens – the perfect location for photography.

Our ceremony rooms range from grand to intimate with the largest licensed for up to 180 guests. We are also able to offer outdoor ceremonies in our wedding gazebo which sits within the beautiful grounds of our gardens. With decades of events knowledge behind us, our Wedding Coordinators are highly professional and organised, from the moment of first contact to the moment you take your vows. We have a host of recommended and trusted suppliers whom we have long established relationships with. Each have their own creative ideas which will help to dress your ceremony room and bring your vision to life. Our range of wedding reception rooms can cater for parties of varying size, from 2 up to 180 for a wedding breakfast and 250 guests for an evening reception. The Bridgeman Suite, with its iconic chandeliers and private Charles garden is the perfect backdrop for live musical entertainment. Backlit room dressing is available as are a variety of tailored dance floors. The banqueting team have created an array of distinguished wedding breakfast options and exciting evening buffet menus for celebrations to suit a theme that compliments your occasion. The venue was nice and we had good planning sessions leading up to the wedding day however on the wedding day there were very inexperienced staff helping which meant we had lots of things go wrong which left us very disappointed! Staff didn’t even know how to open champagne… they were doing it with a corkscrew! Also not a great venue if you have a lot of elderly guests as in the evening there is no side room for them to escape the music!

Our day went very smoothly and was very well organised. The food for our wedding breakfast was fantastic, there was just a couple of things that i critized down hall for, one of them is the room that we got ready in had no air conditioning and on a hot day wasnt ideal, i was made to pack my bags to be taken to the suite where my husband and i stayed the night of the wedding, i thought it would have been easier to use that room for the bride to get ready in so they dont have to worry about packing their bags whilst trying to get ready for their big day, plus the suite is air conditioned with plenty of space for all the bridal party, the room i got ready in wasnt big enough. The other thing i wasnt very happy about was the fact that we were supposed to have access to the gardens at the back of the wedding breakfast room, this wasnt the case and all our guests were made to go upstairs to have drinks before the evening started, which i was very annoyed about and when our evening guests arrived they couldnt find us. That spoilt things a bit for me really as it was such a lovely evening our guests could have had drinks in the garden area. We had a great day and so did our guests.
